Fighting corruption is easy fighting bigotry not so much if you and its not about electables look at the twitter feed of old party loyalists such as Ali Muhammad Khan our hope is this could end uo as being a routine matter of pti normalizing touching touchy subjects that is the best case scenario

The thing is that our entire war on terror and all the gains we have made stand on the thin ground of our progress in two fields

Our fight against bigotry
Our fight against radicalization

I have stated it before and I will state it again that no matter what military gain we may achieve the entire victory in this war on terror stands solely on the efforts of government in combatting these two things and frankly an absolutely failure has greeted us so far and I am afraid that if things continue every gain will be lost and we will find ourselves once more living those days in a loop.

We are living in dark ages so let's hope some enlightenment breaks through

For decades we fought symptoms not the cause
The cause will alwayd be bigotry and extremism it will take decades of corrective measures to undo the damage
All is not lost though the authorities need to keep pushing buttons till atleast discussion becomes a routine matter

I am just shocked at people who were opposed to Atif Mian being included in a ECONOMIC council. The bigotry being displayed by the average Pakistani and by the so called Fake islamic mullah is appalling. This shows how far we are from being a Islamic country. This was a economic council, nothing to do with his religion. Some PDF members who are against this forget to realize that there are non Muslims in Pakistan army as well, why is no one expressing their displeasure at that? Pakistani constitution allows non Muslims to be equal to all in Pakistan. Ahmedi have been declared non Muslim,, time to move on, the hatred being spread shows the disconnect between majority of Pakistani and our religion. We has Muslims showed show what it means to be Muslim by practicising true religion instead will be called liberal. In Pakistan Muslims live but Islam doesn't.

I don't support what Imran khan did, but I understand it. He made a tactical retreat, he has to take very tough decisions and unfortunately Pakistani will follow their religious/political leaders blindly and that could mean disaster for this government. Less opposition is the key right now, but this should scare every true Muslim. Everyday we move further away from our religion.

Technically I don’t think he was sacked....maybe you are right...
Regardless....if someone is pushed or he leaves due to not being allowed to do his job simply due to his beliefs is totally wrong. Remember how many christian pilots fought galantly for pakistan...i and we all owe them our great respect and gratitude. Some of these mullahs ard the worst of people. We both know what they are capable of

Credit goes to peerni G i i guess
A wise decision at the end. I was fearing that foolish people around IK would advise him to 'brave it out' just like all other controversies.
But sense prevailed and PTI responded to the sensitivities of the nation. Nations only progress when they don't comprise their core values to appease others.

I would love to witness the mourning and outrage of the desi liberal and Qadiyani party now. Let it commence [emoji23]View attachment 497126

Not really!!

There is more to the story, MUCH MUCH more that you need to understand about Ahmadi community to understand why common Pakistani people are so much against them. The problem with Ahamadi community is that they want the country to except them as Muslims which they are not. The case of any other minority is entirely different.

Sad that you think letting people serve the country on merit needs to be connected to the majoritarian oppression of a minority community. They and you can continue to think what you want about who or what they are, what that has to do with the affairs of advising on the economy is beyond me. The only story is that the majority are deluded and bigoted. Nothing, nothing that the ahmedis have done deserves the oppression the majority have heaped upon them. Mob mentality. I suppose you also think that the hindus had/have a reason to kill, oppress, and financially isolate Muslims - since they too are the majority and have their own convoluted reasons.

. . .
Are you qadeyan?

No. My personal opinion about their (your?) beliefs isn't very flattering. But that has nothing to do with how i view their rights, and i acknowledge their right to render services for Pakistan on merit. The constitutional amendment against them isn't going anywhere anytime soon (maybe never), but the least Pak can do is to not oppress, discriminate and hate on individuals who are of a certain community.

Christians do not lie and claim that they are Muslims in the terminological legal sense. Do they?

I agree with you in that an individual’s theological beliefs ought not to bar him from a job unless it is against the Law.

PMLN is guilty of politicizing CPEC. Your subsequent postings on CPEC in this thread did involve propaganda talking points. There is no BoP crisis due to CPEC, nor is there any debt trap, nor are there any questions regarding the intentions of the Chinese which are of strategic benefit for both countries. It's up to Pak to make the best of it. The focus should be on that, and that's what I and many others (including Atif Mian) have been saying.

BHarwana likes to talk to go off on tangents and doesn't take the time to comprehend what someone is saying. Atif Mian, and any sane person, is questioning the lack of transparency which is on the previous govt which put political white elephant infra projects into the plan instead of focusing on what was best for Pakistan.
Bro,

There are pros and cons of every project; CPEC is not an exception to this norm. I see two extremes in CPEC-related discussions: some paint a grim picture and some paint a rosy picture - balanced views are rare.

I also raised the point of transparency in one of my posts: https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/govt...advisory-council.576301/page-26#post-10771103

Any Pakistani economist would want to understand the economic implications of CPEC for Pakistan but s/he would need access to relevant data including the terms and statistics of affiliated loans. Logic is to suggest relevant safeguards against the prospects of exploitation (if necessary), and a roadmap for socio-economic uplift through CPEC within Pakistan [I haven't seen any yet]. Even some Chinese experts warn that Pakistan has to devise a mechanism for extracting benefits from CPEC; they won't babysit us through this.

CPEC is absolutely welcome for its potential benefits but it is devoid of independent scrutiny and input from within Pakistan, and this is why it is susceptible to "shady dealings." Much of the dealings in relation to CPEC were made by PML(N)-led government. I never trusted this government, given its track record of profiteering from mega-projects, corruption and sheer incompetence.

I have a general idea of various causes of Pakistani BoP problems, and massive trade deficit with China is the leading cause among them. FYI: https://fp.brecorder.com/2017/09/20170921219893/

CPEC should be implemented in the manner that it help bridge the trade deficit between Pakistan and China in the long-term.
