Public Accounts Committee subcommittee has directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony to recover money from the officials of the ministry who have performed Haj and Umrah more than once on government expenses.
The meeting of the subcommittee was held under the chair of its convener Noor Alam Khan. He directed for a list to be prepared which includes the names of those officials of the said ministry who have been to Haj or Umrah for more than once.
“If any officer of [the] Ministry of Religious Affairs had performed Haj and Umrah more than once then recover the amount from him and deposit in the national treasury,” he said.
Furthermore, a list of blacklisted Private Tour operators of Haj and Umrah was also asked to be presented. It was also directed that a limit should be fixed for expenses by these operators.
Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs secretary and Inter-Faith Harmony asked for 15-days for the list to be prepared and submitted.
Giving remarks about the “Khudaam-e-Haj”, who were sent to help out Hujjaj on government expenses, Noor Alam Khan said that it would be better not to send them again if they were just there to perform Haj on government expenses.
