What's new

Gorshkov frigates and Gremyashchiy corvettes. Russia's attemp to rebuild surface fleet after devastating Cold War loss.

.
. .
Destroyers are far more complex than frigates. Turkey can build frigates but not destroyers. Very few countries can build destroyers.
Why you bring turkey in this thread??? and Yes Destroyer are more difficult to built but Turkey just started, they are moving step by step first they built Corvettes than Frigates and in Future they have plan to built a large Destroyers

. . .
They have they technology and experience to built large and sophisticated surface Naval ships but main problem for them is $$$$
Not anymore. Ukraine who used to supply them gas turbine are no more collaborating. This make Russian Navy difficult to build a destroyer class ship (6000-9000tons) unless they want to go back steam turbine which is outdated and non efficient in modern naval warfare.

They can buy destroyer engines from China. China makes QC280 engines which power Type 052D light destroyers and Type 055 heavy destroyers. @White and Green with M/S

. . . .
lol give me a proofs of that, i don't believe just on your wording lol
The Russian project is heavily delayed and only lead ship has gas turbine. Becos Ukraine refuse to supply the gas turbine. Soviet Union is made up of many states and Ukraine retain many Soviet naval propulsion system and not Russia.

The first two ships of the class have gas turbines from Zorya-Mashproekt in Ukraine. Following the 2014 Crimean crisis, Ukrainian industry refused to supply Russia with military technology. As a result, NPO Saturn has been commissioned to design indigenous engines. Initial forecasts expected these new engines to be available in 2017-18, allowing ships to be commissioned from 2020;[29] however, after intervention by the Russian government, the plan was brought forward.[30] In November 2020 it was announced that United Engine Corporation had initiated delivery of the DGTA M55R diesel-gas power plant which would be installed on frigates of the class beginning with Admiral Isakov.[31]

They are not true gas turbine and lack the power output and power to thrust ratio of the true pure gas turbine like LM-2500 and QC-280

Russia cant even repair its only aircraft carrier. Money is not the only problem. The suitable shipyard. large floating dock and technology too. The aircraft carrier new steam turbine needed to replace the old one on Kuznetsov is beyond the scope of current Russia capabilities.
