We have been having some serious discussions here, but on a lighter note.

In a major goof-up, the Indian government's Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) issued a full-page ad on the occasion of the National Girl Child Day featuring the photograph of former Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Ahmed (2006-2009), along with its national heroes such as cricketers Kapil Dev, Virender Sehwag and classical musician Amjad Ali Khan.

The ad, splashed in all major newspapers and thereafter on all television channels and the electronic media, caused a furor and left the Indian Air Force, in particular, incensed.

“I do not know why they have used the former PAF chief's picture. If they had wanted to use the photo of the IAF chief Air Chief Marshal P V Naik, all they needed to do was ask for one from the Air Headquarters,” a senior IAF officer told PTI.

“This is a big embarrassment not only for the WCD ministry, but also to the IAF. Nowhere do such goof-ups happen,” the IAF officer, who did not want to be named, said.

The Minister for State for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath refused to accept any responsibility for the blunder.

“An inquiry is being ordered into the matter. We are convening the meeting,” said Tirath, who initially said that it being a Sunday the ministry could not do anything.

“Message is more important than the image. The photograph is only symbolic. The message for the girl child is more important. She should be protected,” a defiant Tirath said.

Tirath told reporters that whether the mistake was on part of her ministry or the DAVP, which releases government advertisements, the matter will be investigated.

Crazy  well this is my country & we all love the way we work as someone said the land of 3idiots and more

LOL :toast_sign: hope nobody gets fired for this mistakes can happen after all. All are humans rite

^^^ True but 'Mistake' would be a small word here, it's a blunder, that also a huge one. Nevertheless some must have liked it very much, including me ;)

Any pic of the Ad or is it just a media made up story?

Now please don't blame ISI for this.

its tru i lovd it ............frankly speaking i wANTED TO START THIS THREAD BUT BAD LUCK........................

Here's what happened. The guy responsible for researching and finding the pictures had never seen the IAF CAS before. So he went on Google and searched, and got the first picture he could find. Poor guy, probably doesn't have a job now.

Anyway, the IAF's furor is understandable. This once again points out the lack of attention given to proper research by news organizations in South Asia. Who the EFF doesn't recognize the IAF CAS?

someone please post that add here for us

ISI behind goof-up, India

New Delhi: Indian government's Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) today blamed Pakistan's most powerful spy ageny ISI for a Ad featuring the photograph of former Pakistan Air Cheif Marshal Tanvir Ahmed.

A spokesman for DAVP said: "The person who was responsible for researching & finding pictures was a spy agent of ISI. He deliberately put the picture of former Pakistan Air Cheif instead of Indian Air Cheif on the ad in an attempt to provoke Indo-Pak conflict. He further said: "The spy agent was caught today morning from undisclosed location and has been handed over to the army for further interrogation". The identity of the alleged ISI spy has not yet been disclosed but he is believed to be from Raja Bazaar, Lahore.

In a statement that is likely to create tensions between India & Pakistan, Mr Raj Patel, spokesman of Indian Army, today said that a secret map, machine gun along with other explosives and fake Indian Passport have been recovered from him. He further said that he has recevied orders from India's COAS General Kapoor to mobilise it's army towards Eastern Border and has warned Pakistan it will "get a slap from Indian Army and will face severe consequences".

Speaking from his mansion in Islamabad, Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari, denied the claims that ISI was behind this and blamed India of "staging yet another drama to cause havoc in south asia".
