The global entrepreneurs, especially the Nordic companies, have shown tremendous interests over the green development of Bangladesh.
We have seen an overwhelming interest both from the Nordic green energy and clean-tech companies as well as their Bangladeshi counterparts, Anette S. Galskjot, Commercial Counsellor of the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka said on Tuesday.
We believe that the grounds for many great partnerships were laid this week for the benefit of both the companies and Bangladeshi, he remarked at a one-on-one business meetings in Dhaka on Tuesday.
During the discussion organised by the embassies of Denmark and Norway in Dhaka, the Nordic and Bangladeshi companies had discussed potential business opportunities between the two countries.
More than 200 stakeholders took part at the matchmaking session that created huge interests among the entrepreneurs on green development of Bangladesh.
The session gathered 16 Danish and 3 Norwegian companies, which participated in the Nordic trade delegation on Green growth and clean technology, as announced last week.
Dr Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Prime Ministers Power and Energy Adviser, spoke at the function as the chief guest.
The Nordic embassies has so far organised more than 180 meetings with 85 local companies at the matchmaking session.
Technologies represented include various forms of renewable energy including solar, biomass and wind, energy, efficient cooling systems and air filtrations, water/water treatment, innovative and efficient energy systems.
We have seen an overwhelming interest both from the Nordic green energy and clean-tech companies as well as their Bangladeshi counterparts and we believe that the grounds for many great partnerships were laid this week to the benefit of both the companies and Bangladesh, Anette S. Galskjøt, Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Danish Embassy says.
Bangladesh has a declared strategy to transform 10 percent of all energy to Green Energy by 2020 and this delegation truly supports this goal, the Commercial Counsellor continues.
Speaking at the function, Towfiq-e-Elahi said, the government has given emphasis on renewable energy to ensure the countrys sustainable growth through attaining energy efficiency, said Dr Tawfiq.
Highlighting the governments initiatives to promote gree energy, he said, the government has given emphasis on solar power to ensure sustainable energy growth through attaining energy efficiency in the country.
The government for achieving this target has desgined a comprehensive power and energy strategy, he added.

Around 200 people attended the matchmaking session with interest in the green development of Bangladesh. The Nordic embassies arranged 180 meetings with 85 local companies at the matchmaking session.
Chaired by Managing Partner of Asian Tiger capital Partners Ifty Islam, the programme was also addressed, among others, by president of Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh Shamim Ul Huq and Norwegian Ambassador Range Birte Lund as the special guests.
Ambassador of Denmark Svend Olling delivered welcome speech while Ambassador of Norway Ragne Birte Lund gave vote of thanks.
The advisor informed that the government is working for the extended use of different renewable energy such as solar, wind and biogas to achieve its target to transform 10 per cent of all energy to green energy by 2020.
