Glavin: Squeezed by China and Trump, Canada must rewrite foreign policy – fast

Yes, even China handed North and South Korean criminal back to their country at the request of said government and to certain death no less..

Also, Huawei produce 5G equipment. Do you know how many 5G tech is patented in the West that Huawei have to get before they can produce 5G equipment? Huawei may hold some patent on 5G equipment, but majority of development of 5G patent is on 3 party. QUALCOMM, Microsoft and Ericsson

https://www.telecomtv.com/content/5...s-got-ugly-with-lte-just-wait-until-5g-13458/

QUALCOMM themselves is the leader of 5G patent, now imagine Huawei is sanctioned by US and Qualcomm can no longer supply the patented item to Huawei.

Remember, a 400 dollar phone would have around $120 just for patent.

Despite the recent development, Huawei is still a manufacturer not an inventor of technology. US is the country that can truly develop 5G at this point, China can, not without the help of these US patent.

That is for actual crimes, not kidnapping as a bargaining chip for trade negotiations.

Don't you think it would be better for America to focus on developing their own 5G technology? At this rate the decade will be over and America still won't have any.

Also, to have Canada arrest Meng, US need to get an Interpol Red Notice, and this does not grant by Interpol willy-nilly, DOJ have to submit enough supporting document that a crime have been committed to have Interpol issue a red notice. US government themselves cannot issue an Interpol red notice.

So either you are accusing Interpol, an organisation which China also have a part in, in fact, the last Interpol Chief if from China (who immediately was arrested by Chinese last year), of being biased. Which mean Meng, by Interpol and DOJ standard, have had committed a crime too.

Don't you think it would be better for America to focus on developing their own 5G technology? At this rate the decade will be over and America still won't have any.

Who tell you US has not develop 5G tech? You do know most of the western world have banned Huawei for their 5G development, right? US, Canada, Australia, 5G network are all RIDDED of Huawei, and talks to remove Huawei 5G development is currently in session with the UK and France.

lol :omghaha:

You didn't answer my question, when was the last time a senior business executive was kidnapped to be used as a "bargaining chip" in trade negotiations?

And you did not answer my question either.

Why you think "Meng" was kidnapped and not arrested as a result of a crime being committed and a red notice was issued.

As for North Korea, they are North Korean citizens so they are under North Korean law.

And the North Korean leadership is not quite as crazy as the USA, not for a while now.

I don't know if she is guilty or not, just like the two Canadians who were arrested, they have yet to be sentenced.

However Donald Trump made it clear that Meng's arrest is to be used as a "bargaining chip" in trade negotiations. Which means that kidnapping for the purposes of trade negotiation is now considered fair game.

So on one hand, you said "You don't know" if she was guilty, on the other hand, you yell "Kidnapping"

So which one is it? You don't know or is she innocent? It CANNOT be both.

It is kidnapping because Donald Trump has already made it clear that Meng's arrest is to be used as a "bargaining chip" in trade negotiations.

That has nothing to do with law and order or due process. That is a political motivation.

But isn't China doing the same thing for quite sometime now? All those disappeared people?

Trump made that statement in the context if she is found guilty, there can be leeway in her sentencing (given AG is appointed by the president and is responsible for filing the maximum sentence sought by the prosecution).

There was no intent to go about "kidnapping" her in return for trade negotiation concessions....since there is actual charges laid against her regarding the breaking of US law. If she is found innocent, she is free after all (totally different to an enforced kidnap).

They haven't produced any evidence so far

That is called "discovery" during the actual court hearing. Any existing evidence will be filed at the start of that (and the defense will have an opportunity to examine it thoroughly).

It is actually illegal to knowingly release (previously unknown) evidence into the public domain outside of court, given that can be argued to be jury tampering.
