Girl, 13, Has Baby in School Washroom. Teachers Had No Idea

Teenage pregnancy becoming a social problem in India such as in USA, is very distant.

However current challenge is reducing cases of adolescent birth rate.
That is why India should provide this education in schools

This is covered as part of sex education in schools. However, Adolescent birth rate in India is largely a rural phenomena, where the decision is taken by the family on behalf of the girl.

I am not talking about marriage, we are discussing unwed mother issues, teen age problem. Exactly in large Indian cities girls are more advance they know about birth control methods but in rural areas girls are shy and have no access to that type of medicines even condoms. They should provide that type of stuff in schools in auto dispensing machines.

well, the prescribed age in india was 18 for the female but communities did get females married off before that age, especially in the southern states i think.

but the "anti child marriage" law was brought i would say, not to do with moralistic reasons but to prevent female childbirth mortality in the indian situation and for giving the female a bigger chance to be more free by putting her through school and college which otherwise wasn't much present in the earlier years in india.

even the courts are confused about this... there has been a contradictory decision by gujarat high court about muslim marriages - last year was this[1]...

...and in september this year was this[2]

the cause for this seems to be the jealous and oppressive father of the girl...

this also proves that many supposedly rape or molestation cases in india are really registered by the opposing parents of a female who is in a consensual affair.

Personally I think there are a lot of rape complaints merely due to the pressure of parents
Girls file rape case against their boyfriend just to put pressure on him to marry her, isn't that unfair ?

right !!

yes, that is unfair.

marriage may be, just maybe be, a ideal outcome for the girl, but when the girl has started off in the affair without any condition and entered into sexual relations consensually, it is wrong of her to file rape charge in case of a split... it is misuse of rape law... if she thinks the man is being unfair with her she can file a case of general cheating maybe or actually instead of going to police approach a civil lawyer and work towards out-of-court settlement.

indeed, and the laws should be scientific and gentle, set by true progressives and not by fake-feminists and religious fundos... modern western moralistic dictates should be rejected... a clean start should be made keeping in mind that the laws can be applicable, teachable and contributable to any future human society as well.

one female rights activist that i have come to admire is flavia agnes who writes for the "asian age" once per month i think... she also practices in the bombay high court... though i don't know all of her views, from her articles in "asian age" her opinions and historical knowledge are mature.

Top << her organization.

Problem is that our political system will never allow us to do that, just look what's happening around us, so much chaos, so much hate speeches, threats, religious bigotry, cast based division to reap political benefits......
Honestly I don't think it's even possible in India
