Germany vows Rs 11 billion funding to Pakistan for 2015-16

Berlin: German Deputy Development Minister, Thomas Silberhorn, and Secretary Economic Affairs Division, Muhammed Saleem Sethi, successfully concluded the biannual GER-PAK government negotiations on development cooperation yesterday with the signing Rs 11 billion (94 Mio. EUR) funding for 2015-2016.

The two German implementing agencies GIZ and KfW Bank will use these funds to continue and scale up existing projects in governance, TVET, energy and health which are the focus areas of German cooperation.

German Deputy Development Minister Thomas Silberhorn said: “In our government to government negotiations we successfully committed 94 Mio. EUR new German funding for Pakistan. This reflects the close relationship between the two countries. Our longstanding friendship allows us to discuss about success stories such as reforms in taxes and revenue generation, but also about remaining challenges such as the current situation of International Non-Governmental Organizations in Pakistan.”

On the occasion of the biannual Government Negations a Pakistani delegation traveled to Berlin that consisted of representatives of Economic Affairs Division, Ministry of Water and Power and the Government of KP. The delegation was headed by Secretary Economic Affairs Division, Muhammed Saleem Sethi. The delegation met with representatives of the Federal Ministries and also held meetings at the German Bundestag and the German Bundesrat, which is the representation of the federal states.

What about German demand of elimination of Capital Punishment? Last I checked, they tied their investments with
Capital Punishment's eradication. Also what about the aforementioned funds, is it aid or investment?

Becoz, Suzuki, Toyota and Honda give millions of rupees bribe to excise department and to the govt not to allow other big brands come to Pakistan, otherwise it will really hurt their sale. This is one of the reason.

That is why the custom duty is so high on imported vehicles as compared to India.

Don't understand why Pakistan shows such pride in mere 20 Billion dollar reserve which a small size company in USA has in their Banks
