Germany putting arms exports to Turkey on hold will seriously damage fight against anti-terrorism, which will in turn pose threat to Europe's security, EU Minister Ömer Çelik said Tuesday, shortly after German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel announced Berlin's decision.

Speaking to reporters in London, Çelik said that Turkey effectively fights terrorist groups to not only protect its own borders, but also Europe's.

"This [To put arms exports to Turkey on hold] will weaken Turkey's anti-terror fight, which will in turn pose a threat to Germany and Europe's security" Çelik said.

Çelik said that Gabriel has to be more careful when he makes such remarks.

"What does Turkey use these weapons for? It uses these weapons in counterterrorism, in fight against Daesh and the PKK. As such, these comments [Sigmar Gabriel's comments] directly weaken Turkey's counterterrorism efforts."

"Terror groups such as Daesh and the PKK are now active across EU capitals. This should not be forgotten: With this effective struggle Turkey is protecting its borders. However, at the same time it protects security and borders of the EU," Çelik said.

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel announced Monday that his country put most arms exports to Turkey on hold amid ongoing tensions between the two countries.

Ties between Turkey and Germany have been strained since last year, as Turkish leaders slammed Germany for not showing strong solidarity with Ankara against the July 15 coup attempt, and for turning a blind eye to the continued activities of FETÖ in the country.

Ankara has singled out Germany among European countries for embracing some 250 fugitive diplomats and soldiers accused of involvement in the coup with suspected links to FETÖ. A report titled "The FETÖ Settlement in Germany and Germany's FETÖ Policy," says that FETÖ has been using Germany as its main functioning center and that German authorities have embraced the structures of the group with open arms.

In retaliation Turkey should immediately stop apprehending terrorism suspects and refugees seeking immigration to Europe through its borders. I'm sure some of the 3+ million refugees Turkey is currently feeding out of its own pocket has a few "good candidates" who'd love to stir trouble in Germany. Same goes for illegal drug trafficking and illicit substances of all kinds; let it all flow into Europe freely. Turkey should grant any criminal escaping German authorities safe heaven as Germany is doing to Turkish criminals.

Turkey is gaining nothing from helping Europe secure its borders. It simply doesn't serve Turkish national interests. And since Germany seems to be doing everything in its power to bring chaos and disorder in Turkey, Turkey should reciprocate as per the basic laws of diplomacy.

Tit for tat motherf*ckers.

Germany has exported defence goods worth 25 million EUR during the first 8 months of this year. It's election time in Berlin.

Anti-Turkish rhetoric has become too common a theme in German internal politics. The pattern of attacks on Turkey, Turks and Muslims/refugees is worsening at every election. This is a worrisome trend especially given Germany's Nazi past and atrocities not too long ago. Turkey has to toughen up its stance against Germany and reciprocate in kind to show that there are lines Turkey won't let German politicians cross.

. .
BTW, I'm all for business. I'm not suggesting that we boycott German products. Keep buying civilian goods from Germany. Keep exporting civilian goods to Germany. This allows German business circles to press their politicians harder toward adopting a friendlier policy toward Turkey.

What I suggested as a solution is pretty clear:

many attacks are done in the past but the silence of our rebublic specially when you know that our ppl are patriotic is more than just a shame.. and if you guys think germans went crazy after erdogan than you are wrong since my childhood I can remember them as they are today...

the difference is that the ppl today have no shame to speak it out and do something.. the acceptence in the society is given and erdogan is just an excuse to act this way..

the good thing is our government is forced to think twice and to use our own brain.. we should not hestitate to learn from reverse enginering

Germans have had a soft spot for Turks, Pakistanis too, but sadly times are changing.

This isn't about business leaders lobbying the government it has alot to do with perceptions of Turks and it's government.

Criticisms against freedom of speech by Turkey hasn't helped.
