Germans on backfoot after 2 top officials in a month insult Chinese, calling them 'sly dogs', 'slit-eyes,' 'bastards'

NEW DELHI: A top Daimlerexecutive based in Beijing was fired after he got into a flaming row over a parking spot, during which he allegedly said "All you Chinese are bastards" and then proceeded to use a pepper spray on innocent bystanders who tried to calm him down, the state-run People's Daily reported today.
"The truck and bus company released a statement saying that the company had decided to part ways with Rainer Gartner, president and CEO at Daimler Trucks & Buses China Ltd., following the incident," the daily wrote about the executive.
Gartner is the second German in a month to make offensive comments about Chinese, shanghaiist.com said. In late October, Germany's EU commissioner Gunther Oettinger reportedly referred to Chinese people as "slit-eyes" and "sly dogs" in a speech to business leaders in Hamburg, The New York Times reported.
As for Gartner, he allegedly "stole" a parking spot from a Chinese man who was reversing into the spot. A row ensued, during which he allegedly said: "I am in China one year already. The first thing I learned here is: All you Chinese are bastards."
When passers-by tried to calm the situation, Gartner allegedly pepper-sprayed them.
The incident went viral on social media sparking anger among Chinese netizens with some even threatening to boycott Mercedes that automaker Daimler AG owns.
"Expats should behave themselves and never put on airs even if they are rich or superior," said a microblogger on China's twitter-like Sina Weibo, reported china.org.
