German minister of defence visit China, both side want to increase cooperations

The German minister of defence Ursula von der Leyen visited China for several days visiting the chinese wall and the forbbiden city, meeting with high ranking military from all Forces, visiting the National Defence University, were she took a long security speach in front of representants of all chinese Forces. She visited training areas of chinese UN peace keeping forces. At the end she meet with Chinese defence minister General Wei Fenghe.
The main reason for the visit was the rapidly increasing number of UN peace keeping missions both nations do together. They realized that Germany and China have in many areas identical security ideas and and they want to work closer together to understand each other better.

I think the watershed moment was during the migrant crisis. Europe trusted the US and followed its trail into Syria, but, in the end, just as East Asian learned bitterly the untrustworthy nature of the US during the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997, Europeans also learned the selfish and unreliable nature of US governments, be it with allies or enemies.

The US simply pulled itself behind the safety of its geographic isolation and let Europe (led by Germany) to deal with the trouble.

The US is a very unreliable partner and it makes sense for countries to try to diversify their options.
