1965 War, the Inside Story: Defence Minister Y.B. Chavan's Diary of India ... - R. D. Pradhan, Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan - Google Books
An incredible read which gives insight as to what was going on in the 1965 from the Indian military command perspective, and how Indian COAS Gen. Chaudhuri became depressed after Pakistan's superiority armored column invaded Indian occupied Kashmir, taking Chamb sector, Tawi, and other adjacent sectors that had the Indian high command panicked. Repeatedly Indian units had to withdraw after they failed to defend against the onslaught of Pakistani armor. The book notes one battle where 2 Pakistani armored units heading east of Tawi where Indian troops had taken defensive position the PA tanks had attacked the Indian 161 Artillery regiment hit two gun position causing the ammo depot to explode, the Indian troops defending were frightened and dropped their firearms and retreated to save their lives.
Pakistan then attacks Jaurian where Indian troops were reorganizing and gathering, PA send a armored regiments, two infantry battalions, and artillery units. The PA successfully crushed the enemy there overrunning Jaurian.
