Gaza and the Pakistani Perspective | PKKH.tv

The Gaza attack ended with a truce and so did its blockade from the Egypt border at least. The images of dead innocent children and women bathed in blood kept many awake in revulsion and anger. The world saw another one of the Israeli despicable aggression with disgust. The international media reported both sides equally, giving no advantage to the oppressed, whereas the social media from all corners of the world played its role hiding no pictures of the ghastly war.
The emerging Islamic powers Turkey, Egypt, Iran and Tunisia sang a new song of harmony in Gaza threatening Israel with words much more devastating than the Israeli bombs fired from land, water and air. The foreign policy of these countries went as far as sending their high profile leaders such as Egyptian PM Qandil, Turkish FM Davutoğlu and Tunisian FM into Gaza which was at that time being bombarded heavily with missiles and rockets from all sides. Davutoğlus tears delivered the strongest of the messages, scaring the hell out of the designers of the carnage. The leadership of these Nations while issuing their statements gave no edge to Israel and USA as the previous regimes had been accustomed to, granting Hamas a ceasefire and an unprecedented political victory, despite its heavy loss of lives and property. The peace could be temporary but the new political portrait of Arab Spring exhibited determination and it may have the potential to bring change.
While all of this was happening in Gaza the Muslims of the world fought another war in the social media. The mainstream media gave equal time to the ones who bluntly justified the indiscriminate violence and aggression of Israel, whereas the oppressed and their advocates were blatantly condemned.
The bearded scholars of a newly emerged moderate Islam equally put the blame on the Israel and Hamas. This did not much happen almost twenty years back probably because most of the mainstream media was not commercialized or powered by Western masters and political parties that now promote so called moderation or neutrality theory. Back then either the media was owned and controlled by the state (which was equally horrific) or just free newspaper journalists that worked for their respective ideologies, unable to rationalize oppression in such an organized manner.
We still get news from both sides, but I am sure its pure coincidence that some of us tend to bend towards the US-Israel rhetoric and propaganda on all issues, at all times. They endorse the Israeli posture that it was the Gazans who started it first, firing homemade rockets, forgetting that this war is generations old so there is no point of Who did it yesterday?. Israelis must have done it the day before yesterday, and this should be taken as a natural response of an oppressed, vulnerable and defenseless people. They so impose as if the war just began a month ago, burying their heads in sand when it comes to Gaza turned into the biggest open air prison, collectively punishing its population including old and young and a long history of occupation and oppression. I wonder if they could stay moderate if the calories of their children is counted and food allowed inside their homes is reduced to just keeping them alive or when they are driven out of their houses before bulldozing them.
And there are some Pakistanis, who think we shouldnt bother about a war that is going on hundreds of miles away. None of these pseudo liberals advised the same to America even after Bin Laden was dead. They are actually right that Arabs dont protest for Kashmir so we shouldnt care either. Instead the Arabs support the cause in other ways, in way of economic and strategic steps without making much acclamation about it.
To further the disappointment, Foreign policies of some Arab and Muslim states like Turkey, Egypt, Iran and Qatar are no more that of non-interventionist. They have been candidly interfering in the matters of Muslim Countries and are heading towards an inevitable Muslim Block. Turkey has revealed its deep concern over Muslim issues, be it Rohingya Muslims, providing Military support to the Syrian rebellion in its very neighbor, or other human disasters of the Muslim World. The Turkish PM Erdogan recently announced that he would be visiting Gaza soon. The Qatari Amir made a historic visit to Palestine before the war in October and will be visiting again soon. Egypt and Tunisia are moving on the same lines. Bottom-line, a self-centered Foreign policy is facing a continental drift, since it has not served the purpose. Though the moves seem nothing more than diplomacy yet, but they may prove to be the total conversion from a passive role to strong one, strength that would bind the Islamic world, and set back on the route of its lost glory, a glory not impossible for Turkey. And lets not forget, while Turkey is being charged for trying to bring to life the Ottoman Empire, its growth rate soared to unprecedented heights whereas at the same time the economies of its neighbored European Union are falling like dominoes.
Debating, that in the presence of economical and internal problems we cannot extend a hand to any country, we completely forget the fact that it was the time after the partition in Dec, 1947, when Pakistan faced the biggest of its crisis, Mohammad Ali Jinnah in an interview with the BBC correspondent stated that, our sense of justice obliges us to help the Arab cause in Palestine in every way that is open to us. On December 24, 1947 to the King of Yemen, Imam Yahya in reply to his telegram , he stated, I once more assure you and our Arab brethren that Pakistan will stand by them and do all that is possible to help and support them in their opposition on the U.N.O. decision which is inherently unjust outrageous.
He ended the scope of diplomacy with Israel forever. Following Jinnahs footsteps, Turkey ended it a couple of years back and this time Egypt did it.
