Textile makers and exporters on Saturday threatened to relocate their manufacturing units to other countries because of the gas supplies crisis in Karachi, hitting hard the industrial output.

This decision came at the meeting of textile exporters held at the PHMA House Karachi on Saturday June 26, according to Jawed Bilwani, Chief Coordinator, Pakistan Apparel Forum.

At the meeting, they constituted their due-diligence committee to look into the relocating their manufacturing units to some other foreign venues since gas supplies have dried down.

The committee is assigned to negotiate on the exporters’ demand with the countries having much better business and export friendly policies besides offering the most attractive incentives to their foreign investors.

Since June 11, 2021, Bilwani said that the gas supplies have dried down to the manufacturing units, bringing production to a halt.

For 99 working days in the fiscal year 2020-21, he said, gas either supplied with a low pressure or remained suspended to the industries.

Some industries having the RLNG connections are striving hard by paying higher bills of Rs1533 per MMBTU just to save the export orders deal, despite a costlier output, he said. He said that how industries can work without the basic raw materials, including gas. There is no chance that the textile export industries will get the required gas smoothly with adequate pressure in future, he added.

Electricity and gas load shedding is mind blowing!
LNG, CNG, Sui gas ...... all off?
800 million cubic feet of gas, 3700 MW hydel power shortage!
Expensive Furnace Oil Power Will Increase Circular Debts!

Exporters start considering shifting industries!

The impact of the current fiasco could have been reduced by better management... having said that all know that this issue is for 2 weeks at max and even then if the textile exporters want to threaten the government and wish to move, they should go ahead. As if they have not learned from previous experiences. Shameless

If "BLACK MAILING" had a face.

Even on tiny things they start to black mail. They can move to wherever they want. They restarted industry in Pakistan not out of patriotism for Pakistan but for "PROFITS".

Pakistan is the most profitable of any country in the region, they ll never relocate to Bangladesh or China given the incentives they are getting in Pakistan.

Its just black mailing tactics. Every time government asks for tax returns half of the business community goes to strike. No one wants to pay tax, follow guidelines and standards and still want progress.

The bureaucrats drawing fat salaries and even fatter perks need to be shot for this mismanagement. Who tf plans maintenance activities in PEAK season?? First it was that maintenance on Tarbela few weeks back, and now with this dry docking of FSRU. You pull off this shit in private sector you get shown the door the same day. Makes you wonder how corrupt and incompetent is our bureaucracy--guess this is what happens when you follow 100 years old CSS model and hire BA pass people who's sole competency is ability to cram useless information in their rotten heads to pass a test. Privatize this shit.

No one in the world wants to pay the taxes it is the governments who make people to pay the taxes.

Don’t expect people to live for the common lie that we call “Patriotism”.

When you have staked crores on industrial units, Your hard earned money, Money passed down from generations, And you have 200+ labour to feed, Pay rent in millions per month, And most importantly keep commitments with foreign customers, What matters is business and profits.

Not the fu**ing patriotism, Grow up

Thank you honorable judge of Supreme court of Pakistan for your judgement.

But I want to bring into your kind knowledge that Karachi is facing severe gas shortages since last winter and even one MNA of PTI visited an industrial area and assured them that the issue will be resolved soon , which has not been resolved till now .

If you are in Karachi , please be my guest and I will take you to industrial areas to see the agony people are facing.

Hahhahaha Bangladesh have better textile policy also many Pakistani textile giants which relocated to Bangladesh because of their shiny policies have started to relocate back to Pakistan as they weren't able to go into profit even after 10years so yeah they aren't going anywhere also govt is providing so much subsidies to them.

The obvious thing to do is to get in touch with Syed Raza Gillani for speedy migration to other countries.

Move to Uganda or Mozambique. General direction Africa
