G20 Summit: US, India, UAE, Saudi to finalise Middle-East shipping, railway deal

So you take it to a port in India
Load it onto a ship

Onload it onto trains in UAE to travel across multiple countries to Israel, where it reloaded onto a ship

Then taken to Greece, to unload back onto trains/trucks

Unless the suez is blocked, what's the point?

Its 40% faster trade route for India and substantially cheaper.

Geopolitical Angle of the Corridor. Financial viability is yet to be ascertained, but it can definitely act as an alternative for the Suez Canal!!

This looks more viable than CPEC though. Also all parties involved US, Saudi, UAE, Israel, India, Europe are wealthy, have no problem with finances, can afford to keep this as a backup plan for future. Land acquisition cost will be close to Zero, infrastructure cost will also be minimal due to flat desert plains with very minimal obstacles.

Yes, infact a lot of Gulf rail is already operational. India will only help gulf to get the return on their investment quicker.

When i saw map, i laughed on smart brain who proposed this kind of project.

That. The Suez canal was blocked for days only 2 years ago. Also, it is a canal where ships have to be towed at the end of the day and has a limited capacity. The alternative route could end up being cheaper and faster and will certainly have much higher capacity.

Also, the project is much broader in scope. The rail network in the Middle East will facilitate trade between India and Arabia/Jordan/ Israel and this and synergies from the European network will help recoup the investment in infrastructure faster.

Yes, the project aligns with existing plans and ambitions of member countries. Saudi is already building the rail line, India already has port and DFC infrastructure, UAE already has port infrastructure in place. Israel already has it's Haifa port and rail infrastructure ready, same for Europe. Only Jordan needs handholding to build the rail linkage between Israel and Saudi. This is how viable and sustainable projects are built. Not all-in like CPEC.

Also, with the US involved, this network will likely end up linking with Africa, the Americas, ASEAN, Japan and Australia at some point.

And it also totally avoids all conflict zones. China's BRI goes through all kinds of conflict zones.

It 20 years since CPEC was going to be the engine of trade for Pakistan. Where is that trade ?
When one boat disembarks at Gwadar in six months it is all over the Pakistani press promising untold riches.
All Pakistan has is debts and more debts but no trade.
The alternative is for goods ALREADY being traded, it is CHEAPER and FASTER by 40%
It is a route based IN REALITY and offers REAL ADVANTAGES with participants that are fully loaded in terms of finance, no dodgy Chinese usury in sight

All these countries that have signed up are also the ones with the deepest pockets. That should ensure a realisation of the plan. The greatest winner in this is India which now can safely ignore BRI which will remain, a debt trap, a financial shackle around every country that signed up to BRI.
Countries are desperately trying to exit BRI like Italy and other European countries.
Unfortunately Pakistan will end up holding the shitty end of the stick with tens of billions in debt.

. .
What is the proposed route for the corridor? Will it bypass Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan?
Yes, it will bypass them
You mean railway and highway from India to Israel?

Can it?
From India to UAE through the sea, from there, through Saudi Arabia, Jordan up to Israel, and from Israel through the sea again to Europe.

It’s a dumb *** project that’s why lolz

Any one with common sense can tell this will definitely not save money on transportation and commercially not viable

Much faster than Suez. Also it adds UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel to the trade.

You could export stuff to multiple nations in one way.
