I have tried to make this overview of all of the faithful FT-5 that remain preserved or stored in Pakistan. Luckily, many were saved for posterity, and some are still stored at M.M. Alam, possibly for future distribution.

As you can see, two have the same serial '55-1232'.

Any corrections and additions are very welcome!

The first serial should be 55-1516.

'Pindi never get's it's fair share of old warbirds despite hosting AHQ for many years in the past and Chaklala being one of teh oldest bases in the PAF

This one is in the PAF Museum in Karachi. I am looking for the one at PAC Karma that is in the row of five aircraft. These are about 500 metres to the west of the PAC Comissary. Not for public viewing.

The one on these three poles is painted 55-1615 on the other side!

But on the photo you posted, the other side shows 1516 on the nose!
Also on your photo, on the tail you can see 55 as last part, but that should be the first part of the serial (eg 55-1615 or 55-1516).
Strange.
55-1615 is a known PAF aircraft. For 55-1516, I do not have that listed as a PAF aircraft.

Mashallah beautifully preserved! What a sight!

Numbering faux pas not a big deal IMHO. The exhibits are there for future generations to appreciate AF history.

I'd be interested to know if any of the British SuperMarine Attackers operated by PAF No. 11 Squadron are still preserved as exhibits or gate guardians. This was the first jet fighter aircraft operated in the subcontinent (and probably Asia) at the time (1951) and one of a kind, being a tail-sitter jet.

Sorry for the OT post and query.

Is ft5 a dual seat mig17?
Sort of yes. The FT-5 is a Chinese-made dual seater, the Russians did not make a dual for the MiG-17. So basically the Chinese mated the back end & wings of the MiG-17 with the forward fuselage of the MiG-15UTI.

PAF also had 5 of these MiG-15UTI, or UTI-MiG as they were referred to. You can clearly see they are shorter and only have two 'fences' on top of the wings. There is one in PAF Museum:

Also, one is at PAF Academy Asghar Khan in Risalpur and another is preserved at PAF Rafiqui, if it is still there? So three survivors that I know of.

Thanks for catching the tail and serial number discrepancy. I'll update my spreadsheet 🙂

Unfortunately not, no :-(
In fact, the one in the British Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton is the sole survivor world wide.

Thanks brother. A unique design in my opinion. They swept the wings and tailfeathers and made the design into Type 510 (still tailsitter), but then added a nosewheel to develop the Supermarine Swift.

I heard accounts that when they turned on the jet on full blast during takeoff, the attackers would melt the pitch on the runway.
