It ended when Turkey has almost no more Christian left -- and that was way after Ataturk landed his job as premier.

Atatürk was fighting in Gallipoli till 1916 then got deployed to Edirne, in 1917 he got deployed to eastern anatolia as reinforcement of 3. army. In 1917/18 he was in th Belgian city of Spa as military attache for the Germans, and later went to therapy in Germany.
In 1919 he was sent to Samsun to fight the Greek militia, right after that Greek invasion of Izmir started which was the starting point Turkish independence war led by Atatürk which lasted till 1923.
