What's new

Former DG-Rangers, Lt.Gen Rizwan Akhtar to command the ISI.

It was almost certain that Gen Raheel wanted to promote a Maj General to the post of DG-ISI. It was sure that both Government as well as COAS would like to see an apolitical personality on the post. I was told by one of my friend in close contacts with the government that Gen Butt was the choice of NS after consultations with not only other parties but also persons from media (For the first time in Pakistan). Butt also possessed prior experience of intel ops, which was crucial since Gen Raheel doesn't posses any experience of Intel Ops. But Nawaz having already appointing another butt for DG-ISI previously (Gen Zia ud din Butt), the decision was certain to attract some irk and affirmed the perception that Nawaz only promotes butts and sharifs generals to key posts. So Lt.Gen Rizwan is the last day change after meeting with the army chief and thus going for Rizwan. However, one of Rizwan's key strengths is that he can work in coordination with civilian security infrastructure which may pave a way for ISI opening up to the idea of dysfunctional Joint Intelligent Bureau envisaged by Chaudry Nisar.

Most disgusting act to involve so-called non entity media shtt in the state affairs, media is a non entity in the functioning of the state affairs, it seems to me nawaja is not learning from his mistakes the stupid clown.

The very non-entity turned sparky dharnas into a firestorm. Media has a role in current society. Yes I do agree that with Seths ruling the media houses, 99.00% of the stuff is only for marketing and masala. But Media has evolved into one of the stakeholders of the state, no matter how much one may dislike it.

Media has no role in the state affairs of the functioning democracies , I live in germany I know how much angela merkel or david cameron care about media before taking any decision regarding the state affairs of their countries.

And as far as media being a so-called stakeholder, so it seems like NS the coward clown cannot handle the bunch of idiots and hooligans sitting in the news media, it is then better for him to resign and give charge of PM to someone who has balls to take the decisions or otherwise hand over the governance to Gen. Raheel Sharif who can take care of this so-called "new stakeholder" which is nothing more than a molehill being presented as mount everest in pakistan these days.

Because they have a media like DW TV and BBC not like Geo,ARY,SAMAA and Duniya. Pakistan can have the similar media but only if proper media reforms are introduced. For example, media houses should be public limited companies registered on exchange so that there is greater financial transparency. Furthermore, the maximum ownership stake should be capped at 5% for an individual and his associates. The more diluted the ownership, the lesser would be the personal manipulation of the media by their Seth owners.

Before any reforms , this so-called media needs a big big chitrol for the role they are playing to stir unrest in country by telecasting live the two performing jokers every night, they don't deserve any mercy especially ARY, Express and Geo.

Yes their english news paper tribune.com.pk is violating many laws of pakistan on their website by posting pieces which should get them in the jail if it was happening in another functioning country, their website looks more like protecing the interests of india rather than Pakistan on issues like kashmir etc. Media must be brought out of karachi , the main problem is that media headquarters of all the channels and most of the newspapers are in karachi which is controlled by people with vested interests. I think government should make legislation to force all media houses to have their main head quarter in islamabad only, a time limit can be set in this regard for example of one or two years so that these media houses shift their head quarters to islamabad. I just feel that karachi neither represents nor protects the state interests of pakistan, maybe because most of its populaiton has blood relatives in india and that has become kind of security threat for the existence of pakistan.

Look at the body language of both militaries officer and you will visibly feel the difference. Who's the straight backed soldier proud of his country and who looks like on of those street bum scratcher .

If body language could win wars, one General Tikka Khan would still be bragging (straight backed) 'visibly' about how he defended Dhaka to the last man and bullet.

And here's a fact- those fellows on the Indian side? They aren't Indian military to begin with. But you go right on creating and believing in more myths.

I think Navid Mukhtar would be a better choice for this job but still not a bad choice either. Hope he serves his nation well.
