I read in Jang that Sugar Prices in some areas has reached 125Rs..I pay between 55 and 92 pence for 1Kg of Sugar here in UK.
That means sugar is cheaper in UK than Pakistan..

Why in the world food has become so expensive in an agricultural country?

From where. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Lidl?

Here in saudi arabia We have 10 KG Sugar bags at Stores For 35 riyals each! that equals to 888 Rupees Pakistani for 10 Kg Sugar! Which is 88 RS per 1 KG? Is it cheap here,

Also pakistanis get less salary in pakistan as compared to UK or saudi arabia!

East End Almonds 800G - Groceries - Tesco Groceries

Skinned pure almond Price in UK 5.6 Pounds or 865 Rs per kilo
Almond with skin price in Pakistan 800 Rs per Kilo..

How unreal prices can be in Pakistan..Thats just Pathetic...

Zardari was living in london before he came in pakistan to loot, he had UK prices in mind so he has level up The prices!

The fact is, if you compare general prices of anything in Pakistan, it is way too cheaper than any other country, even cheaper than Saudi Arabia (because most of the items in KSA are subsidized by Government. People would starve and die of thirst for actual prices).

However, the sharp rise in the prices and taxes do not indicate any raise in production costs or fallout of resources, but the fact that the government (PPP) is crushing the public like a wet sponge; to get as much water out of it as possible.

A lot of Pakistanis are still spending a lot of money, many families don't even cook food at home people are eating out more at restaurants.

I'm not going to worry about rising food prices in Pakistan because the remittance money should be keeping you helpless people happy.

Eid Mubarak

They are the worst govt ever in pakistan!

Also talk about the awam brother, the awam isn't far behind either.

There are many food items that are imported from both Pakistan and India and yet they are sold cheaper in UK comparing to Pakistan or India. I never understand the logic of these countries to send their best products to UK/West/Developed countries and that too with such an affordable price tag that whatever is left behind becomes a burden for the poor public of Pakistan when the shortage of food items is created and the prices are increased to insane level

The main reason for high food prices in our part of the world is not fuel or input prices.

Its too many middle men between the producer & the buyer.

The buyer pays for every one in between and the producer gets a pittance.
