LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) staged a protest rally in the
federal capital on December 19, 2009 to express solidarity with
Chaudhary Qamar Zaman, who has been nominated as new Chairman NAB.
The PTI came out in support of Qamar after he and three other FIA
officials were suspended by the then premier Yousuf Raza Gilani for
barring the then defence minister Ahmed Mukhtar from leaving for
China.
On December 18, 2009, Ahmed Mukhtar was not allowed to fly by the
FIA officials posted at the Islamabad Airport under the pretext that since
he was a beneficiary of the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), he was not permitted to fly abroad.
The minister for defence was proceeding to China to receive the first
batch of frigates from the Chinese government.
Soon after he was blocked from flying to China, Ahmed Mukhtar had
reportedly met the-then president and prime minister to inform them of
his “humiliation” and the “disrespectful attitude” of the responsible
Interior Ministry officers towards him. The sitting Federal Interior
Secretary Chaudhry Qamar Zaman was resultantly issued a show-cause
notice, whereby he was directed to submit his written reply in seven
days.
The Interior Ministry sources had told the media later that the federal
interior secretary was on leave and was at Kharian when the incident had
happened.
The state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) had reported the next
day: “Chairman National Accountability Bureau Naveed Ahsan has
telephoned Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar and has
apologised for the embarrassment caused to him.”

I am certainly not sure why it is not clear to both PTI fanboys and detractors that PTI is in essence a Pakistani political party and as such is bound by the same game conditions and ground realities. Moreover, its leadership is moving beyond its naive single minded ideals and learning that in politics it pays to misstate truths and be flexible at times for the greater good of the party's main agenda.

I fail to see what is 'flip-flop' here?

PTI protested the unconstitutional act then..

And PTI is protesting unconstitutional act now....

What a joke this lover of mota altaf is becoming...

Morally, NAB chairman should be INDEPENDENT with protection under the constitution...

lol flip flop ? hahaha

it was back in 2009 now its 2013. There was a corruption case against new chairman in 2011. How did PTI flip flop ?

MQM ko PTI pe kis baat ka gusa ha .... shameless mqm showing PTI flip flop ..should i show them MQM flip flops ... jis party ka koi deen imaan nhie ... haar aik k saath mil jati ha

this is no brainier that the protest was against the illegal removal of the then suspensed govt officers, not for some govt officer.

and now its against the appointment, as PTI deem that the man is not fit for the job, and its muk muka between PMLN and PPP, as public accounts committee would be headed by Zardari's sister in return.

see here we are talking about principle stands, and that is unknown thing among MQMers and rest of the lot as well !

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) staged a protest rally in the
federal capital on December 19, 2009 to express solidarity with
Chaudhary Qamar Zaman
, who has been nominated as new Chairman NAB.

Protest was against the decission of Ex-PM to sack investigators because PM's own interests were at stake. Choudhary Qamar was never a hero neither his personality was getting the support.

People in the forum;
Please show some sensibility for a microsecond if you may. Previous staged rally in 2009 was against the PM's Decision and this protest rally is against the procedure which appointed. Person sacked or appointed was never subject of protest then or now. GOD, sometimes I feel pity on the people who biased but to the level that they have grown into stupids and yet they imagine they have discovered some flip-flop. :disagree:

Have a look at the news post

The PTI came out in support of Qamar after he and three other FIA officials were suspended by the then premier Yousuf Raza Gilani for barring the then defence minister Ahmed Mukhtar from leaving for China.

So the protest came "after" somebody by the name "Chaudhary Qamar Zaman" + "three other members were suspended and not soon after they were appointed. Protest was against the decision of PM because Ch. Qamar had acted under the orders of the court as court had ordered to put everybody on ECL who has been beneficiary of the NRO.

Sharm inko magar nahi ati.
