First woman who contested Aligarh Muslim University polls found dead in India

ALIGARH: Asma Javed, the first woman who had contested student polls at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Indiafour years ago, was found dead inside her apartment on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old, who was living alone in her Aligarh Civil Lines apartment, is suspected to have died four to five days ago. Her badly decomposed body was only found when neighbours complained to the police of foul smell from her apartment.

Javed’s brother too suspected something was wrong when he called her repeatedly but found her mobile switched off.

“I hadn’t spoken to her since May 9. The neighbours kept saying there was a horrible smell from her flat. Our uncle also stays nearby. I went to the police and we got the door opened,” said her brother Salman Javed.

Shrikrishan, a senior police officer said that Javed’s door was locked from the outside, which was seen as a strong sign that she may have been murdered.

“The body was completely decomposed. We are investigating how she died,” said Shrikrishan.

Javed had ran for the post of students’ president in 2011, and her family alleges her death could be linked to her campaigns for women students at the university.

However, she had completed her doctorate from the university two years ago, and according to her family, she wanted to join a teacher’s course.

i suspect the tableeghi jamaat dogs in her murder... amu is in uttar pradesh and the deoband mullah college is in the same state though even without deoband many modern indian muslims in the last 20 years have become talibanized by internalizing and adapting the practices of non-muslims... the murderers might have been inspired by the first murder among the bloggers in bangladesh.

the result is these female students of amu...

these female students have gone against the great progress made by world leaders like nasser and muammar, and therefore should be forced to burn their burqas and "hijabs" and taught to be female.

i give full support to indian military to raid and bombard the deoband mullah college and every tableeghi jamaat office in india... this will be a great service to islam and the ummah... if indian military must exist, it must be to cleanse indian society of reactionary filth.

AMU has its own security moreover the VC is LT. Gen. Zamirullah Shah a very strict person and former soldier.

Bro killing is no solution to any problem (though I am contradicting my own signature here) and especially killing a female is highly condemnable and a cowardly act. Having said that I am more close to tableeghi jamat I don't know what is your problem with them, and how they are different in India then Pakistan? But any how bad people are everywhere may be they are involved in this.

At least let the report of autopsy come in before we start suspecting killing. @GURU DUTT is right in saying that these days no attempt is sparred to malign India for what ever news. Those questioning the credentials, must learn more about AMU first, it is far more liberal and progressive institute that what media portrays it to be.

there are three kinds of mullah movements - wahabi, ayatollai, deobandi... and tableeghi jamaat ( deriving from deoband ) is the ideological movement behind most sunni reactionary criminal groups in the world... from africa's ikhwaan to south east asia's jemah to hizb-ut-tahrir ( dagestan, chechnya, xinjiang ) to others... tableegh does not itself provide fighters but its students go on to enhance existing groups or create groups.

tableegh is slow poison and radically changed the face of indian muslims, literally... like i posted above.

Well shame on me all my life I thought these tableeghis are the khasi Mullahs, never heard a word declare "Jihad" on others in their sermons (here in Pakistan).

Well they keep focusing on Touheed (Oneness of ALLAH, there is only ALLAH and everything is in HIS authority and under HIS command) and what is the purpose of our being on Earth, they keep stressing on saving humanity from what is to come in life here after. I never witnessed any thing that would suggest waging Jihad is the priority or if they are fond of Jihad (That is why I said they are Khasi Mullahs). Even I heard US considers them peaceful and non threatening. For them a person needs to earn this much only that is necessary for his survival and the more the wealth the more the questions to face on day of judgment. Their philosophy is be soft and show humility don't confront and don't harass. And for women yes they have equal responsibility of spreading the dawa and have separate Jamats. And if you know Mulana Tariq Jamil he had to say some very soft words for Veena Malik (If I remember exactly).
