Mossberg is adding a .30-caliber offering to their MMR-series of rifles with the MMR Hunter 7.62.

Chambered for 7.62x51mm NATO, the rifle features a 20-inch free-float barrel with a 1:10 right-handed twist. The barrel is constructed of 4140 carbon alloy steel and uses a carbine length gas system under its aluminum tubular for end.

The bolt is manufactured from Carpenter 158 steel which is high pressure tested (HPT) and magnetic particle inspected (MPI). The bolt rides inside a flat-top upper receiver made from a 7075 T6 aluminum forging.

Lower parts include a 1.14-inch diameter receiver extension made from 6061 T6 aluminum, a fixed A2-style buttstock and a Stark Equipment Corp. pistol grip. Fire control parts include a standard single-stage trigger group with .154-inch diameter pins. The MMR Hunter 7.62 also comes with a 5-round detachable magazine.

The Mossberg MMR Hunter 7.62 comes to market in late summer 2014 with no confirmed MSRP at this time.
