Insurgents not only got inside the gates, but had set up machine guns well in advance of the attack. Once the attack kicked off, pilots and ground crews were scrambling to find their weapons to fight back. A couple of pilots got airborne in either a Cobra or Apache, but the ROE required them to get permission prior to engaging the attackers. Evidently, they never were able to get clearance to fire, but opened up anyway, killing most of the attackers.

its amazing how the mehran and minhas base attack was propagated in the media, and how this event was concealed through false information and lack of proper media coverage

Our "Azad" media is only concerned with selling their story, the American media is more mature and understands that national interests are the primary objective of any story being put on the air. Thus the difference.....

you make a good point there...We dont even have proper photos of this attack available in the internet.

Take a look, they have hangars/sheds made of tarpaulin/canvas.Probably the NATO forces had never imagined they someday, these assets will come under attack, although it was very much probable, more than ever after the PAF base attack.

Imran Khan, once said, when his bouncer struck the batsman and if he appeared in pain then the job was done, however on the contrary, whenever he himself got hit by the ball, he would never show any pain so as to deprive the other bowler of any satisfaction.....similarly, the Western media, in National interest, never give coverage to glorify an enemy's achievements, whereas our newly enlightened media go into a frenzy to be the first for Breaking News.

A bit off topic but none the less relative, the following images are of Camp Bastion, as it appeared, on fire after the attack and finally smoke still rising from burning material some twelve hours after the attack....now those who were making ludicrous claims about the volume of damage at Kamra, should remember that not a trickle of smoke was seen rising out of the PAF facility.

But many people suggested that the numbers of Jets destroyed and the number of Marines being killed and injured are more than doubled which are shown in the news as well the destruction of the base is immense....:pakistan:

I am not sure about the number of personal killed but the US authorities in Afghanistan has admitted to the loss of 8 Harriers.

USA spend like 70 million $$ for a day in Pakistan on media to broadcast its message on friday... they are spending huge $$$'s to buy these private Ch.

but they cant change the fact and fate in Afghanistan, they have lost the war and they cant do much about it ...

Nice analogy.....

While you have a point, an attack like this on US soil would have been a different ball game altogether.

Looks like the harriers were stood under a tarpauline tent..nothing concrete or hardened.
