I guess it is.

. . . . .
That's clearly CGI, but then again it's an HGV, so there are probably only going to be CGI of it.

.
It's the thing that the international media has been making a fuss over recently. :D

It can nuclearly/conventionally strike the globe within an hour.

China doesn't need to wait the full deployment of Beidou in 2020. While China can precisely control Yutu which is 380000km away from Earth, so to control a glider over 10000km is just a piece of cake.

This is the CGI of the Chinese HGV, since they were previously using the CGI of the American conceptual HGV to represent the Chinese HGV.

I can't wait till the day where we able to "mass produce" these things. :D

Just the psychological impact alone, of being able to hit any target with almost zero chance of interception.

Yep, we need to gain the upper hand in the strategic weapons.

The HGV is a good way to neutralize enemy's landbased ICBM and airport of the strategic bomber.

With China gains the opportunity in a first strike of HGV/OTV, the only remaining nuclear deterrence of the enemy will be the SSBN.

So meanwhile China needs to largely deploy the MKV such as DN-2 to deal against the SLBM launched from the SSBN.

Also this technology will be really useful in terms of anti-ship missiles, due to higher maneuverability.

We could build such enormous numbers of these weapons that no one can threaten us in our own seas ever again.

The ASBM is useful, but it is obsolete compared to the HGV, since its trajectory is still predictable.

China needs to build up capability that enables the global strike within an hour to decimate enemy's landbased ICBM/airport of the strategic bomber/surface vessel simultaneously.

Meanwhile, we also need to build up a very large number of supercarrier battlegroups with the advanced Aegis DDG and nuclear subs.

The Aegis DDG will equip with HQ-26 and laser weapons, while on the land we got the MKV such as DN-2, so our missile defense system will consist with multiple layers which will largely reduce the threat of enemy's SLBM.

Pentagon alarmed by China’s new hypersonic glide vehicle: Official

The Pentagon is increasingly concerned by China’s recent test of a new ultra-high speed strike vehicle which poses a serious challenge to the US military’s technological edge, a senior Pentagon official says.

During a House Armed Services Committee hearing on Tuesday, Frank Kendall, undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology, and logistics, told lawmakers that he is worried the large-scale cuts in the Pentagon budget would undermine US military superiority.

“The Department of Defense is being challenged in ways that I have not seen for decades, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region," he said in testimony on the Obama administration’s so-called “pivot” of military resources toward the Asia-Pacific.

“On hypersonics, this is a good example of an area of technology that is going to move forward whether we invest in it or not,” Kendall was quoted as saying by the Washington Free Beacon that first disclosed China’s Jan. 9 flight test of a hypersonic glide vehicle that the Pentagon has called the WU-14. “China is doing work in this area,” he added.

The Pentagon's chief weapons buyer said such hypersonic vehicles are difficult for US missile defenses to counter. The missiles travel and maneuver while flying at speeds of up to 7,680 miles an hour.

Kendall said China is dramatically increasing its military spending while “our budgets are going in the opposite direction.”

"Their budget is far smaller than ours, but their personnel costs are also far smaller than ours," said Kendall, undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics.

China’s new hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) is capable of penetrating US missile defense system and delivering nuclear warheads with record breaking speeds.

The Pentagon has for several years expressed concern that the US might be losing its military superiority in areas such as fighter jets, missile systems and cyber warfare in the coming years.

Mass-produce we must, just as we do with everything from smartphones、TV sets、autos and UAVs to nuclear plants。:enjoy:

However, Yutu was not moving at hypersonic speeds and was doing just basic maneuvering not dissimilar to a remote control car. There is a difference of day and night for controlling these two things.
