By Emil Ilgar - Trend:

A petrochemical complex in Iran hit by fire July 6, IRNA reported July 6.

The incident took place at the Bou-Ali-Sina Petrochemical plant.

No causality has been reported officially, but some Iranian media outlets, including Mehr news agency, cited to local source that two people were killed. The financial loses are reportedly huge.

Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant owned by Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) produces 1.75 million ton per year of aromatics and by-products. Petrochemical Plant is located at the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (Petzone) in Bandar Imam, Iran.

Ohh, its big fire.Hope everyone is okay

.
Well it was due to gas leak around one of the towers and about 7-8 hours ago the fire have been controlled.
My guess is that leaky tower need serious repair.and they must investigate why nobody become aware of the leak sooner.

. .
Nice if its controlled.
The fire happened at Wednesday evening at 17pm ,it started by leaking gas at storage no 8001and then it expanded to tower 8001 which have a height of 121 meter . thursday at 2:10 am they managed to control the fire in the tower and storage area and then at 9am they managed to completely control the fire.

According to official there was no casualties.

No one of the tower was being repaired and due to gas leaking explosion happened ...
well the report I heard stated that the fire started because of the leak in one of the valve in paraxylene unit
it must be something like this.

by the way we were lucky that tower could held itself , if it have fallen a tragedy was certain

The reason why extinguishing blaze has taken this long is preventing the very tragedy that you mentioned if tower falls the fuel could spread the blaze + they've been trying to keep around the tower cool to stop blaze from spreading to other towers till the flammable substance all burnt ...
Kudos to this guys :
