Fire has broken out on a Russian nuclear submarine undergoing repairs, but no injuries or radiation leaks have been reported.
The fire on the Tomsk submarine at repair yards in the Pacific Coast city of Bolshoi Kamen was extinguished with foam.

The Tomsk, capable of firing cruise missiles, has been undergoing repairs since 2010. Reports said all its weaponry had been removed and the reactor was shut down, although it was not clear if all nuclear material remained in the reactor.

The Tomsk is of the same class as the nuclear submarine Kursk, which sank in 2001 in the Barents Sea after an explosion, killing all 118 people aboard.

these soviet oldies are showing their age..

in the U.S. last year was burning Submarine "Miami" - at what was burned, so that can not be restored. And then in Russia it was just smoke, flames were not, nothing seriouse.
Submarine built in 1997 - not so oldie.

Oscar-II isn't that old, this sub entered into service in 1996..accident happens..by the way, this sub was in dock since 2010 for repairs and was expecting to enter in service in 2014..this SSGN is massive..

Repairs after the accident takes 10 days - as the Minister of Defence reported to the President.
