Fire breaks out at DRDO's Chandipur complex , AniNews.in
Chandipur on Sea (Odisha), April 29 (ANI): A fire broke out in an underground magazine store of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) complex in Chandipur-on-Sea, Odisha, on Monday morning, triggering several explosions.
The officer in-charge of Chandipur police station, P.K. Acharya, was quoted, as saying that the fire and explosions took place in the magazine store of the Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE).
The store contains shells and ammunition of different capacities and sizes, which are used for tests.
At the time of the filing of this report, no casualty was reported.
At least a dozen fire tenders have been pressed into service to control the blaze.
The entire complex has been sealed.
Officials of the PXE, which is located near the premier missile trial centre Integrated Test Range (ITR), are tight-lipped about the incident.
They, however, said steps are being taken to contain the fire and prevent its spread.
The cause of the fire was yet to be determined. Further details were awaited. (ANI)
