FINALLY INDIA TO START INDUCTING DHANUSH 155 mm ARTILLERY FROM NEXT MONTH

If Pakistan continuously violate seize fire agreement why can't India violate this treaty.

Afteral this small arm weapons & mortars are inadequate to stop hide & fire game played by Pakistan & its terror outfits, if we really want stop this misadventure we have hot them back in a ruthless manner & destroy there supplu lines, hardened bunkers etc with long range heavy howitzers like dhanush or pinaka type mbrls.

Okay, then I'll give you another reason why we should not jump our guns as yet.The thing is,Pakistan Army enjoys a commendable lead over Indian Army in terms of tube artillery (and rocket artillery as well) both in numbers and qualities for the time being and the situation won't change until the middle of the next decade,if everything goes as per plan!!And if we make the mistake of employing artillery against them,we would have more to lose than will they!!Now,is that a good enough reason for you my brother??

At present yes they do have advantage over us in artillery but once we started inducting dhanush in mass numbers things will change, that too with IN 3 to 5 years. There artillery is of old & less range when compared with that of dhanush.

Well, they are replacing their older M114 and M59s with newly acquired Panters and SH-1s at quite a fast pace, and they have also upgraded their M109s to A5 standards, which now come equipped with a longer barrel along with more advanced electronics.

But still I believe our weapon locating radar & dhanush can do magic, one advantage for us will be these thing can be mass produced in India itself which is not applicable with Pakistan.

Well,as far as I've come to understand,WLRs have limited effectiveness over rugged mountainous terrains as is prevalent around the LoC,because the high ridges degrade the performance of any radar to a significant proportion (fighter aircraft often exploit this by taking terrain masking flight profiles). The reason why the Pakistani artillery fire had been such devastatingly effective during Kargil was not due to they having the AN/TPQ 37 fire finding radars in their possession but because they had forward fire controllers, deployed on top of the ridges opposite to a portion of NH 1D,from up there, they had a commanding view of the road and could brought down heavy artillery bombardment at their will, the Pakistani artillery having had practically kept it zeroed in 24X7.

u r right technically but u r wrong practically because most of there population in pakistan punjab lives near border like 35-40 km
and major cities like lahore or sialkot etc will be in direct line of fire so they cant afford not saying that we can afford but they loose more

Moot point, cause government will never ever allow (quite rightly so) Indian Army to commence large scale indiscriminate bombardment of Pakistani (or that of any other nation's) civilian population centers. We are no US,we never deliberately wage war on civilians, never have done such thing in the past, nor will ever be done in the future!!

Not possible my dear brother. There is treaty in place which prevents both sides from using anything more powerful than a 120mm mortar in the skirmishes,in order to keep the shit from hitting the fans!!

There is no need for us to play by the rules when they don't. Is there an agreement to send Terrorists into India ?

There's a visible difference between us and them and as per the character of Col. Damle(from the movie Lakshya) the tradition of India Army forbids us to behave like some uncivilized savages. If a dog bites you today, would you return back the favor by biting it or would you simply pick up a stick and beat the living daylight out of that creature. If we are attacked then i can assure you we'll give them a befitting reply but attacking their civilian population is something which our consciences won't permit:coffee:!!

Ask the GoI then!!I wasn't giving my opinion up there but merely mentioned the GoI policy they have following for a long time now without fail. And forget about terrorists, our forces never knowingly bombarded Pakistani civilian population centers (nor did they for that matter) even during full blown wars!!So do not expect the GoI to change their policy for some guerrillas, especially when the situation has largely improved compared to what it used to be a decade earlier.

105mm LFG/E2, then there are about 450 130mm M146 that wont undergo BF/Elbit Beas 155 mm program, and then there is the Garuda 105mm ultra light howitzer.

Rubbish. IA is required to do whatever it takes to keep US safe. Morality has no role to play here.

The ONLY lives that matter to the IA should be INDIAN Lives.

Too bad the GoI and the Army do not share your opinions!!

Hmm...........may be 105s (I still doubt that) but 130 mm is strictly a no go,otherwise they would have definitely used them by now.
