Fighter aircrafts are designed especially for the air to air combats with other aircrafts. Some aircrafts are designed for the bombing purpose to the ground and air called “fighter-bombers”. Fighter aircrafts play a very important role in a country’s strength, at crucial times they really help in the guerrilla warfare.
Well here we have this list about the top ten fifth generation aircraft projects, and this list is based on the budget spending, planning and development or you can say the overall fulfillers of requirements.
10. Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA)

Number 10 will be another mythical military gadget India cannot build. I like DRDO thinking though. Can't build a successful 3rd generation plane (actual plane and not claims) but they are already aiming for 5th generation. Number 9, not sure.8 looks cool with big nose. 6, 7? 5 is light years away. 4's success is suspect at the moment. 3 and 2 are undefined...till they are not inducted you never know. 1 is only real fifth generation plane and probably will be for anther decade.

I am waiting for this 2 to be operational in India PAKFA and FGFA. That would be ultimate day for us. Hopefully around 2017-2019 most likely. :toast_sign: AMCA only after 2020. F-35, We may buy may not.

KF-X isn't fifth generation more like 4.75-4.85 Better then the EuroFighter but not better then the F-35.

That's debatable. Even F-35 without super cruise is considered to be just short of 5th gen. Except for J-20, F-22 and Pak-FA/T-50 are the ones widely accepted as 5th gen.

At the moment only the F-22 Raptor is the only Truly operational Fifth Gen aircraft. The J-20 and PAKFA are closing in to being in the final testing phase. The F-35 is in the induction phase. The rest are just paper designs at the moment including the J-XX and AMCA.

Agreed. But F-35 lacks super cruise which is a key criteria for being a 5th Gen fighter according to some analysts. J-XX and AMCA are a loong way off.

.
AMCA might be on paper but in 2017 we will see its first flight the FGFA would enter service in 2017, btw when is the first flight of our FGFA going to take place?

But, except for the super cruise, the F-35 really seems to be a capable aircraft. It has reportedly the most advanced avionics suite in the world.

Not again sidhu, yesterday or the day before you were as well saying after 5 years, after 10 years.

I have said about now, no doubt the AMCA may well go on to be good, but stay in the present. You might also have been saying Tejas will come after this many years, but hey, where is it?

My advice to you, stay in the present.

however in a computer simulation conducted by RAND corp the F-35 lost to SU-35BM fighters

well of course we are in the present but it does not hurt to take a look into the future once in a while does it?

besides the AMCA is just on paper we know nothing of its specifications unofficial design work is still being conducted when the design is frozen then funding will occur for the project
