FIBA Asia Cup 2021 - Qualifiers

There are 24 teams that are competing in Asia Cup 2021 Qualifier. The competition will use home and away system.

Indonesia vs South Korea. 79:109.

Both team doesnt use naturalizes players. Indonesia in this game use 16 years old player whose name is Derrick Michele that look like will be Indonesian basketball star starting for the next 3-4 years. He is mixed Indonesian-African. Unfortunately he just played in the last 3 minutes of the game but he played well during that period with several rebounds. One of the minus of Indonesian player is the high. Particularly we dont have many big man so there is always trouble in defense and rebound. His present will be much welcomed since he has already reached 2 meter at his young age.

Highlight. The game is played in Jakarta 20 February.

The top three are always changing but favorite teams are China, Japan, South Korea, Philippine, Iran. Any way why India is not taking part on Asia Cup Qualifier ?

No idea, basketball is popular in schools and universities but the national team hasnt achieved any success so there is very less exposure and money coming in. There needs to be a breakthrough and then only the sport can be competitive here. The same case with volleyball too.

Okay, India is still part of the competition, it will be interesting to see it. Indonesia vs India history is 1:1. We lost 1 and we won 1. It was played during Asian Games preparation. Friendly match. But I think India is not sending 1-2 of their best players. I see India Center is very tall and big on that game, he can easily do dunk. I think India has potency in Basketball since the people on Punjabi region are usually tall.

Philippines are elusively foreign based team, Just like their Rugby team consists of foreigners with Filipino heritage usually from their maternal side.. They have a massive diaspora in the US and Australia

India is a qualifier along with Sri Lanka from the South Asian region, And no Bangladesh is not in the running

LOL that was very true, just look on 3x3 men Final on SEA GAMES 2019. All Philippines players are African American while Indonesia only use local players.

Despite so, they do have good local players and some of them are also very taller. Philippine use dual citizenship so I think it make them easier to use foreign blood players and many of Philippino women marry many Western and African men. The use of that foreign blood players are diluting their Basketball greatness though. I believe they are still a strong team if they only use their full blood local players, but of course will not as good as their current team.

In Basketball and football yes, In Rugby you can represent a nation of your parent or grandparent or if you're a resident of that country for 3 years (5 years from next year) You dont have to be a dual citizen, So they manipulate those rules well

And if im not mistaken FIBA also allows naturalized players to represent as well, Albeit one per team but i'm sure they get around it, They do the same with most of the sports teams coming from the gulf Saudi's, Bahrain,Qatar, Kuwait are all representative teams consisting either Africans or Whites.. Arabs arnt the most athletic people out there

Not qualified.. India and Sri Lanka qualified from the region, I think they played the South Asian qualifiers last year

Pakistan has potency in Basketball since many Pakistani are tall. The problem I think more on professional competition that was not as good as other part of Asia. I also have checked Youtube and I dont find any international game played by Pakistani team, it seems your team doesnt have many international experience.

Dont know why Japan and South Korean are very good at field games? Relatively better than even some African countries and western Europe

South Koreans are generally considered the biggest Asian race physically so they're bound to do well in athletically demanding/ Body contact sports.. As for the Japanese there's nothing extra ordinary about them, Just that they have massive finances to support and sponsor sport in the country giving their athletes optimum facilities to perform

But the Chinese are the undisputed Asian sporting super power, And now they're branching out of their traditional sporting powers and with success
