The 2021 FIBA Asia Cup (formerly known as the FIBA Asia Championship) will be the 30th continental basketball championship in Asia. The tournament is organised by FIBA Asia. It was originally scheduled to take place between 3 and 15 August, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to 16 to 28 August 2021.[1][2]

Indonesia will be the tournament host for second time after staging the 1993 edition. Australia is the defending champion.

Host selection
On 7 October 2020, Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali confirmed that FIBA has entrusted Indonesia to host the upcoming Asia Cup in 2021. However, an official announcement by FIBA was yet to be made at that time.[3] On 18 December 2020, FIBA confirmed that the country will host the tournament.[2]

Format
A number of 16 qualified teams are expected to play the main round. They will be divided into 4 groups by 4 teams. Every group winner will gain direct access to the quarter final, while runners-up will match third placed teams in a playoff game.

Press Conference was held Yesterday in GBK sport complex, Jakarta. Indonesia Basketball Association (PERBASI) has planned to allow spectators to watch inside the stadium and also the game can be watched live and free through YT channel which I believe FIBA YT channel.

At that event, Indonesian Basketball League Chairman and Indonesian Baskeball Association official explained to the press about the event. Indonesia sport minister is also present sitting next to FIBA representative.

One of Indonesian national team players whose age is still 17 years old will join NBA Global Academy in Australia. At this time he has just arrived so hasnt been included on the video which I think taken from 2019. The training will last for at least 1 year.

Indonesian team is not among the strongest in Asia, but we are preparing to be at least 8 best team in FIBA Asia cup where Australia and New Zealand will also play in the competition.

Just to show Indonesian basketball professional teams dunk ability, during this year Pandemic we create competition that can only be watched through Youtube channel. In this competition all players are Indonesians, there are only 2 foreign players from Senegale that are participating in the competition. We have plan to naturalize those 2 Senegalese players.

FIBA Asia Cup promotion in FIBA Official YT Channel

There are two National players that could become very important for Indonesia in FIBA Asia Cup 2021, they are Arki Wisnu and Sandi Ibrahim. Both have 188 cm heigh, usually play as small forward or guard and you can see 1 dunk made by Sandi in this game.

This is the game played in Indonesia Basketball Professional League (IBL) between Satria Muda where the two players are originated and Indonesia Patriot.

IBL competition continues after break due to Ramadhan fasting, but no spectators are allowed to watch the games. The games is now played in Britama Stadium in Jakarta and will be very positive for Indonesia to prepare for FIBA Asia Cup as good players always come from good competition.

First day IBL games after break during Ramadhan. It is already selected teams as it is already entering Play Off.

This is only high light game, IBL will allow people to watch the full game in Youtube for just 24 hours, after that they will erase the videos, usually every full game videos gets around 150.000-300.000 viewers within 24 hours.
