"Army Special Operations Command has deployed its first teams of female Soldiers assigned to commando units in Afghanistan, and military officials are assessing their initial performance in theater as "off the charts."

FORT BRAGG, NC – "This is a landmark moment,” said Lt. Gen. John F. Mulholland Jr., commander of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, during the first Cultural Support Team Training Course graduation ceremony Dec. 10 in Fort Bragg’s John F. Kennedy Auditorium.

The CST training course educates female officers, warrant officers and enlisted Soldiers in the basic capabilities required to access and interact with female and adolescent populations in foreign areas. These teams will accompany special-operations teams and units, including those which are all-male, and communicate and interact with individuals who may not be able to do so with male Soldiers for cultural reasons, such as female and adolescent civilians...........click link to read more

Similar to USMC "female engagement teams". A good idea for all male infantry units as in this part of the world there is no way they can interact with women.

Hopefully all of them will come back safe and sound. It`s high time the world realized that women can be as and sometimes more courageous than men, half of Israel`s army are women.
I don`t know where we`d be without them.

This has been going on for some time now. I guess it hasn't been reported much.

Afghan females culturally do not speak to unknown males. By bringing females along, the Afghan women feel free to speak in private. Apparently, when alone with them, the burquas come off, and the women are loaded with beautiful jewelry, their hair is done nicely, and they love to talk.
