A Bangladeshi catering company claims to have opened the largest kitchen in South Asia.

Bangla Tribune reports that the company, Khan’s Kitchen, claims that its Dhaka kitchen will be able to prepare healthy meals for millions each day. It claims that it will be able to offer not only hygienic, but also cheap meals, offering consumers a menu that includes rice, fish, meat, lentils, soup and desserts for only Tk.95.

Upwards of 3,000 people will work in the gigantic kitchen, at a 15-bigha plot in the Notun Bazar area of Dhaka, once it is fully operational.

Afroza Khan, the managing director of Khan’s Kitchen underscored the need for the innovative project, an increasingly crowded food market.

“Dhaka is one of the most densely populated cities in the word. Around 44,000 people live per square kilometer here, most of which are working class. According to a survey, most of these people suffer from stomach ache which takes place because of unhealthy food. This is what made me think about such an initiative.”

“I have been gathering experience in this field for the past three years, as I always wanted to do something a bit different the factory is all set to start its operations with the help of my husband Ali Ahmad Khan.” She added that “Internationally recognised chef Tony Khan will be in charge of the kitchen.”

A director at Khan’s Kitchen, Alif Khan, said that that the kitchen was being built with modern German technology including a state-of-the-art fourth generation high-efficiency classifier.

The kitchen will also have a steam injection system to cook the meals.

The company plans to be able to provide meals to its its consumers in specifically made boxes which are capable of keeping food warm and safe to eat for more than six hours.

Nah bro, its supposed to be meant for middle income group, inclusive of of home/office delivery service + VAT?

Hygienic food is a problem in Dhaka especially for the office goers. I hope Mr. Khan will fill this void.

One million is a vry big number. If it really happens,it will be an amazing thing. It will surpass the Indian kitchesns feeding 2.5 lakh people on some special day and 1 lakh on normal day.

ummm Tk 95 isn't expensive. Even in shitty 'hotels' you can't have a meal much cheaper than that, specially if you're going to get a piece of fish or chicken.

I guess they wanted to create a buzz with the 'feed millions everyday' - that's not going to happen anytime soon.

i think the amount of food is given is enough they give different food also
they should make a cheaper version with 1 or 2 item with rice so other who can eat also
