People will pay Rs200 for a litre of petrol if needed: Faisal Vawda

Those who looted Pakistan for the last 40 years are now telling us how to run it, says water resources minister

Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda has said that people have full confidence in the Prime Minister Imran Khan-led government while insisting that “if need be they would even bear the burden of paying Rs200 for a litre of petrol”.

He remarked while addressing the foundation stone ceremony of Mohmand Dam in the Mohmand district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Thursday.

At the same time Vawda hit out at the rival political parties, saying: “Those who have looted the nation for the past 40 years are now trying to tell us what is best for Pakistan.”

The federal minister also said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had been given the people’s mandate “so PM Imran could bring back the wealth looted by the previous governments back to the country”.

He added:

“We [Pakistanis] have seen even worse times and will be able to bear any hardship that comes to our way.”

While talking about the crusade against corruption, Vawda said that the accountability process against opposition leaders would not be stopped under any circumstances.

“He [PM Imran] taught us that authority is not important but hard work is,” the minister added.

More than 25,000 jobs, he said, will be created by the Mohmand and Diamer Bhasha dams projects.

PTI supporters will defend this anyway. Remember inflation in PMLN time? So much criticism. Now same people are on damage control mode.

It's the same party, it has same corrupt people from other parties, and Imran Khan can't do anything because he thinks he is running a donation drive, or playing some sport.

They will defend it knowing that mess is not created by PTI but the previous governments which borrowed money not for investment but for consumption. All economic indicators can be manipulated in the short term but that only means that we are deferring it for later where it snowballs into an even bigger problem.

8million people lost jobs in last 2-3 years and with slow economic growth, the remaining will lose their jobs in next couple of years.
I don't know about the job figure. These numbers are shit in developed countries so lets not even talk about what happens in developing countries. But I have to add because it was unclear if you were talking about the world or Pakistan...….slow economic growth is a global phenomenon which has been dragging on since the last crisis, coupled with trade renegotiations, Iran sanctions and in some places credit exhaustion. This is why our neighbor to the east had to fudge up numbers to present a case for another turn.

Pakistani people can pay 200 rupee for litre that is not an issue
The books will balance in 1.5 years

Just means you drive less and go on joy rides less

Though he should try and avoid making such statements but I would have to agree with him, people don't realize the sort of crisis we are in. If there is a need people will have to and will bear high prices. Nations go through tough periods, we can surely suffer a few more years if the government can work to bring in reforms that benefit us in long term. Plus all the blame should not be put on the government, prices go up in accordance to international prices...
I would say the government should cut subsidies it's providing.

Give this man a medal! You get it. Wish more did.

Of course PTI can, should and (inshaAllah) will do better.

It's rich and unaware people like him who when asked about the solution to bread affordability will suggest substitution of bread with cake.
