Fearing investigations, Agha Siraj family leaves for US: sources

KARACHI: Family of Agha Siraj, the under-investigation Sindh Assembly speaker, has quietly left for the United States, fleeing from anti-graft investigations, ARY News has learnt.

Acha siraj wife Naheed and daughters Sarah and Shahana were yet to be investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with the gold ornaments recovered from Durrani’s lockers.

According to sources, the family left for the US on Sunday morning. The family travelled business in a private, foreign airline.

Sources informed that as the family left for the US, a Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) provincial minister saw them off at the Karachi airport, whereas a former federal minister of PPP received them at a yet unknown destination in the US.

The identities of the ministers overseeing the family’s escape couldn’t be confirmed so far.

Earlier on March 5, the anti-corruption watchdog had recovered foreign currencies with an estimated worth of Rs5,518,744 besides seizure of 2.14 kilogram of gold from the bank lockers.

NAB officials found 1.9-kilogram gold during the search of Naheed Durrani’s bank lockers which contained an estimated worth of more than Rs20 million.

NAB sources said that the foreign currencies include Saudi riyal, United Arab Emirates (UAE) dirham, US dollar and various other countries.

The estimated worth of riyal and dirham is more than Rs3 million if converted into Pakistani currency.

Seizure of 4400 US dollars and 4200 British pounds was also made during the action carried out by NAB.

That's why Pakistan doesn't develop. Right from govt officers to politicians, everybody wants to and have full planning to leave this country. Pakistan is just a hunting ground for majority of Pakistani management. Everyone wants immigration. Everyone wants clean life. Nobody wants to build this country.
If Imran Khan wants to do something for Pakistan then he should introduce a culture in Pakistan, where people are seeing Pakistan as their ultimate destination. Where people just don't see Pakistan as mere hunting ground, where people know that we and our next generations will stay here. We, the expat Pakistanis are ready to return to Pakistan if the conditions are feasible over there. A place where we are getting job or at least we can continue our businesses safely. Where atmophere is clean and safety is the top priority.

Thats a gross generalisation. We have amazing people working for Pakistan "in" Pakistan at this moment. Many of them left a life of luxury abroad to do something better.

IK is not the magic bullet Pakistan is looking for; nor can he achieve much if people aren't willing to change. Much introspection is needed by everyone else.

Only for politician, politics is the job to serve people only & not to get personal benefits from tax payer money & not to loot the wealth of the country, pakistan has kleptocracy not democracy.
