If this claim by the Taliban is true, then certainly its cause for concern.

Could you elaborate please.

Helicopters getting shot and damaged is nothing new in FATA areas, although it would be interesting to know the xact place from where the firing took place.

At the moment, the pilot is reported to have suffered critical injuries.

They're bluffing, the helo crashed on landing due to a failure in the hydraulic systems. That's why it crashed dead centre on the heli landing pad of the Ghalanai FC camp.

Seems you are aware of the area. Media reports it as FC Colony, is it same as Ghalanai camp?

The media also seems to be reporting a technical failure, and nothing likea TTP shooting.

Taliban do have a hait of claiming anything that goes off!

The FC colony is the housing complex within the Ghalanai compound.

Taliban... using stingers during landing?? Must be quite close to helipad in a area filled with FC personnel. Doesn't make logic or sense.
They just need to accept any responsibility blindly trying to flex their plastic muscles and portraiting to be more dangerous and active than they really are.

If they really have anti aircraft guns its a huge cause of concern actually. We need to finish these people off. This means that

There are no operational US Stingers in Taleban custody presently.

You guys sure left a footprint, all tyranical nations do. Of course 4 Million Afghan civilians are now dead because US chose to interfere when the Soviets invaded.

The stingers are still there:
The U.S. government collected most of the Stingers it had delivered, but some of them found their way into Croatia, Iran, Qatar and North Korea.

I am sure at least a few of them still remained in Afghanistan. American interference in this region has caused a rise in terrorism and intolerance. 40000 #Pakistanis lie dead because of USA and the Taliban. We are trapped between 2 murderers.

Any units remaining are absolutely non-operational. No doubt about that.

anti aircraft gun may be chance cos they are present in numbers with taliban.
army need eradicate these guns.
they are biggest threat to copters ......

Yes, the militants had AAA and many guns have been seized. But this is illogical saying that they shot a helicopter, landing at army camp. They would have been caught by now.
Though the AAA has been used on Pakistan Army Aviation helicopters earlier and rarely got away with it too..
