FBR reveals tax details of PM Imran, Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued its tax directory of the parliamentarians for the Tax Year 2018-19, ARY News reported on Friday.

These parliamentarians belonged to the Upper and Lower Houses of the Parliament.

According to the tax details, Prime Minister Imran Khan paid tax of Rs2,82,449, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid Rs 2,94,117 and former president Asif Ali Zardari paid tax of Rs28,91,455 in the year 2018-19.

President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif paid Rs97,30,545 in terms of tax, Federal Minister Hammad Azhar Rs22,445, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Rs1,83,900 and Hamza Shehbaz paid tax of Rs87,05,368, the tax directory disclosed.

Planning and Development Minister, Asad Umar paid 53,46,342 rupees in tax while JI Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq paid Rs2,16,800 in national exchequer.

Furthermore, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz paid 3,67,460 rupees in tax in the year 2018-19, while Azam Swai paid 5,90,916 rupees, the tax directory disclosed.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Chaudhry Tanvir Ahmed Khan paid 32,38,733 rupees and Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak paid 18,26,899 as tax in the year.

According to tax details, Federal Minister for Railways paid Rs5,79,011 tax, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Rs10,46,699, Minister for Communications Murad Saeed paid, 3,74,728 rupees, Maritime Minister Ali Zaidi paid Rs8,96,191 and Fawad Chaudhry paid Rs16,98,651 rupees in tax during 2018-19.

Meanwhile, the tax directly showed that Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda and former health minister Aamir Kyani paid ‘zero’ tax in 2018-19.

Prime Minister Imran Khan paid 1,03,763 rupees in tax in year 2017-18, while President Arif Alvi paid 3,77,511 rupees, the tax directory disclosed.

Is there a source which states the yearly wage? PM pays a little of £1k in taxes same with Bilawal. Zardari pays £13k in taxes ..

Zardari paid less than $2000 in taxes? This is shocking. I wonder what the tax rules in Pakistan are. I used to pay more than that as a college student. There’s either something wrong with the tax laws in Pakistan or the FBR is a criminal organization.

I wish someone posts the houses, cars and businesses of these politicians and the amount of tax they paid. It’s an insult to people’s intelligence that a McDonald’s worker pays more in tax each year in America than Pakistan’s elite. No wonder the country is always in economic ruin. The FBR should be disbanded.

It’s an insult to people’s intelligence that a McDonald’s worker pays more in tax each year in America than Pakistan’s elite. No wonder the country is always in economic ruin. Seems like a fair deal, if Shahbaz or the Zardaris are confident that the tax they paid is just then they can exchange their assets with Asad Umar who paid similar amount of tax.

I have lost the patience, No matter what you do , they just dont learn. Already studying various options to move my investment overseas! Pakistanis are in no mode of learning!

After a few incidents in Pakistan my family sold all assets in Pakistan and moved the funds to the US to invest. We don’t have time to deal with land mafias and nonsense like that. My family back home is pretty rich and same as in the states — the tax on my house alone is 25K per year and add another 50K on income after maximizing deductions; and this doesn’t take into consideration the remaining rental properties and few gas stations we own that are taxed.

Pakistan system is screwed up.

Tax is paid on the INCOME generated from assets, not the asset itself. If you sell an asset, you pay tax on the proceeds/profit. Similarly, when you purchases an asset, you pay taxes on that transaction.

Just owning a assets, doesn't mean you pay taxes. Now the big question, how did Zardari & Shehbaz generate income to pay that high amount in taxes? 2.2million & 9.7million in taxes, would mean their income that resulted in that would easily be over 10million & 30million.

Its pretty straight forward they dont own any assets that produce income. Those are earned by bogus people whose accounts are used by them

An open & shut case but not in pakistan where majority thinks corruption is okay or that corruption is acceptable because every one does it
