It really makes me angry to see food rotting in godowns while poor people dont get enough food. Govt should rapidly upgrade the PDS system with the same priority it gives to road and other infra projects.

While enough stress is being made on the food production front, the food storage department is neglected. I remember one of my Andhra colleague telling me that one time his native village produced bumper tomato harvest, but the price came down so low that the villagers simply threw the tomatoes on the road as the price being offered would not even cover the trip to the market. India seriously lack storage facilities for perishable items. Whoever responsible for the above mess should be dismissed from service ASAP.
