Paris: The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will hold its plenary and working group meetings in Paris from today, to decide whether Pakistan stays in or out of the 'grey list' it is currently placed on.

The FATF will review Pakistan’s performance on the implementation of the global illicit financing watchdog’s 27 action points to curb terror financing and money laundering.

According to the details, FATF has expressed satisfaction on the measures taken by Pakistan regarding money laundering and combating financing of banned organizations.

The final meeting of FATF will decide whether to clear Pakistan out of the FATF grey list or to move it into the black list.

A Pakistani delegation, led by Federal Minister Hammad Azhar, will attend the meeting with Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Experts are of the view that Pakistan is expected to exit the grey list soon after winning a “largely-compliant” rating from the FATF, or might get more time from the watchdog for attaining full compliance.

Pakistan will be judged by the FATF plenary meetings on the basis of the Joint Group’s report, concluded last month, for a possible exit from the ‘grey list’ or at least avoiding an entry into the black list.

In October 2019, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) announced to keep Pakistan on its grey-list till Februray 2020, after expressing satisfaction over the compliance report submitted by Pakistan.

While addressing a press conference, FATF president said that the task force directed Pakistan to take more measures for complete elimination of terror financing and money laundering.

An FATF meeting in Paris decided to review the measures taken by the country again in February 2020.

I have gutt feeling! we will be kept on Grey list...FATF has become tool of pressure! Just likes F16s were ...i heard Kaiser Tufail say "Pakistan is under sanctions for Eight time since 1965"

Most definitely. It is not a coincidence that both are interlinked.

Having said that, more than Pakistan's fate this will decide the Afghan fate.

Pakistan can survive the economic blackmail. We have been through this exercise before and came out much stronger.

Blacklisting Pakistan would essentially mean end of diplomatic relations between the Western world and Pakistan. After all, a collective assault on Pak economy is nothing short of a declaration of war. It is economic boycott.

This is all drama. FATF knows the realities and knows the facts. FATF is a pressure belt used by the West to keep countries like Pakistan and Iran under the shoe, or at least try.

It is mostly symbolic though. If the West really means what it says it would end diplomatic relations. That is the only proper way of parting ways. This tit for tat is a symbolic kneejerk reaction. The West will only be hurting its own interests at the expense of appeasing India and Afghanistan.

They won't cut the relations, so they introduced FATF. Will FATF ever grab US, UK, France, Germany or Israel for terorr funding in Syria? Nop, they're not interested in the purpose they show. They're interested to grab the balls of those who aren't that bowed to the Americans or least to Europe.

In a nutshell, FATF is an instrument designed by Western nations and serving the interests of Western nations.

of course, just like the UN or even today's OIC.

UN will never land troops in Kashmir or Afghanistan where neutrality is required. Instead, it will remain a paper tiger or declare people like Hafiz Saeed a terrorist (I don't think Hafiz did achieve what he was paid to, but hes not a terrorist). They term organizations like Hezbollah a terrorist group but BLA BRA CRPF Shin Bett are saving the humanity.

They can dance on my middle finger because we are obviously not going to give a crap. Remain steadfast and don't give into blackmail. Our national interests are most SUPREME.

We will come out of the grey list this time.

US/Trump are desperate for a deal with Taliban and leave Afghanistan safely.

The only country that can make it happen is Pakistan.
