Hello,
I have been sending to family in Pakistan for the past 14 years. Legal channels, of course. There was a National Bank option I used; and so was a UBL Bank option. Both became unavailable after some years. Then I switched to Western Union, which was glitchy but worked. But six months ago WU stopped working--I suspect bad programming job. Then it started to work again, on its own, about a month ago.

But then recently someone made about $2000 transfers to India (!) using my WU account. I reported the case and apparently the transfer was stopped. But I have lost confidence in WU and closed my account.

So what are my options now? Is this a good one: http://www.hbl.com/FastDirectCredit ? But they don't have enough info.

Please advise.
Thanks

i receive my remittance from u.k through hbl and ubl, hbl its pretty straightforward but my humble request please sent in small amount to your relatives.

Thanks. I do send in small amounts--$200-500 ranges per month. Any links? That HBL link in my post has no specific info about how to proceed.
And it's such a shame that both UBL and NBP shut down their respective remittance services from USA; don't they and others know the impact of remittance on the Pakistani economy?!

.
From my understanding you have to contact your nearest branch in usa for there office or sometime they come to your house for easy process i don't know much about that side. but once you sent it takes 24-48 working days and your relative can receive from hbl bank counter by transaction code nic and phone no. hope it helps you.

Pakistan has shot itself in foot by making it's financial system complicated
While world wide people send money by just their email

Pakistanis don't have facility to send money easily to Pakistan Unless there is drama

Deal with Pakistani Banks if possible all the Western Banks have Indian managers and workes and offshore processing centers

See if allied bank is in you vecant its also nice from past 2-3 months i am receiving remittance from them.

Does look promising! But not going to 'walk into' some office to send money. Let me figure this out.
Thanks!

Yes. It seems so easy to send to India. But I have no problems dealing with Indian managers in western banks.

This has got to work through Pakistani banks! Perhaps the combined loss of foreign exchange Pakistan is experiencing is ten times more than Trump's 'Billions in Aid' for Pakistan.

Just wasted half hour 'Chatting' with the Allied Bank agent, who seemed to be using just ONE FINGER for typing, beginning with 'Respected Sir' in each response. That bank is a dead end option. Sigh!

So I haven't done this before but just wondering; why cant you just do a wire transfer to your relatives' local bank account here? Are the fees too high or something?

Or maybe ask your relatives to open a Foreign currency account so you can mail them a check which they can deposit directly in their account.

Just thinking out loud....

Relatives live in Karachi--so no local bank account in America.
Not sure how the foreign currency account work--and it should all be online anyway; writing checks is not a long term way.

It's a shame that there are no banking options. A big shame. This was flawless through National Bank's Pakremit.com and UBL's UBLNY online systems, until they stopped the service. What a loss of revenue for Pakistan!!

The only one left is Worldremit.com but that exposes to the same risks as Western Union. Speaking of which, Western Union, being one of THE largest systems in the world for money transfers, has ill-trained, often lacking in English language skills foreign workers to address your serious concerns.

Its a pathetic situation indeed. But I was talking about international wire or SWIFT transfer. Anyone anywhere can send an international wire transfer to any local bank account in Pakistan. The fees might be a bit on the higher side but it can be done online if your bank provides this facility. For example https://www.bankofamerica.com/foreign-exchange/wire-transfer.go

Try Xoom, it's a PayPal company and indirectly a Tesla company, so I will say it's reliable. Been using it for some time now. Only charges $5 fee, yes just $5 flat fee for any amount. And do check out the exchange rate of Xoom, its better than Western Union, I just sent and the rate was Rs.113.6~
