As the idol was not taken from any hindu temple therefore I think this is allowed. As per Islamic teaching we are not allowed to destroy places of worship of non muslims unless they are involved in anti islam activities.

Budhist or Hindu, an idol is an idol. So destroying it is as per teaching of Islam. If you don't believe in instructions of Quran then not my problem.
