Hey guys,

Short and quick - is imposing a ban on Facebook in Pakistan going to bring a resolution to Blasphemy? IHC Justice Shaukat Siddiqui thinks otherwise.

Thank you for your input.

My vote is yes. We should protect our interest and if anyone fail to do that we have right either asked them to undo the same or if they fail to do that then big YES to put banned on them as we all know that they know only one language and that is MONEY

. .
Might as well ban all web use unless verified by Mullah as clean. Also, declare hacking into haram websites as a capital crime punishable by 5 years hard labor (farm, and city cleaning) and destruction of all the owners electrical devices (anything used to get internet).

PS: Raise taxes on computers, cell phones, wi-fi, etc.

Hate speech and incitement to violence must be controlled and laws of the country must be obeyed in that sense. This is what we have learned from USA and the West.

And I think no organization, no matter how powerful should be an exception.

Having said that, banning is not always the answer. There are other ways like hefty fines etc. Again, learn from the West how to deal with organizations who break local laws...

I support the ban.
Also on youtube as max no. Of blasphemy is done on youtube.
Also any site saying anything critical of the army should also be shutdown.

Is saying something nasty (real abusive) about Rama, Krishna, Hanuman or other Hindu Gods considered blasphemy in India? If yes, how does India deal with that? Do enlighten us.

May be Pakistan can learn few things from Indians, how they deal with such abuse.

And I think ban is not always the best strategy.

I think specific sources and contents should be removed and prevented.just banning facebook isnt gonna work because not everone on facebook does that and ofcourse there are so many other sorces out on the web where these things can happen.

From Day one I want Facebook to be banned as we Pakistani's are very addictive to it. Some People's even spend whole days on Facebook which is a time killer and many addictive persons don't even get time for Studies and other "necessary" activities.

But Banning it due to some 5-6 Pages which shared Blasphemy content is not good. i think we should Provide an alternative to Our Citizen's. Just like Chinese did. that way you can get rid of those scumbag's as well as can monitor each and every Post/share/comment/Profile etc.

It will be like what was JF-17 to the west Sanctions. A perfect answer.

So Yah, I will go with "I AM HUNGRY" . :)

India does not really have a blasphemy law.
Hurting sentiments of easily hurt communities law is normally applied.
Means if its against hindu symbols, is treated as freedom of speech. The guy is picked up and after a little show is quietly let off. Diffuse the situation is the main aim.
But if u have seen PK , a muslim actor is shown entering a bathroom dressed as lord Shiv , and the movie became our biggest hit. Guess our ppl are more secure in their beliefs.

Ok, apart from lynching people by her unofficial extremist hindu militant proxies for doing 'blasphemy' like eating beef; or threatening girls with r@pe for saying Pakistan is not an enemy; or burning down mosques, churches; or threatening to blow up / burn down cinemas who show "blasphemy" movies....

What does Indian govt. do against those media houses which abuse hindu gods or break country's law by displaying internationally recognized maps?

This will be interesting to know and this is something from which Pakistan can learn.

Why not just ban the internet, it will bring the chances of encountering blasphemous content down to zero percent, surely if we follow the logic this is only a natural conclusion?

An excellent idea, surely! :D

(And easier than the only effective alternative - learning to tolerate others' views with the same respect we demand for our own.)
