Guys, believe it or not, the incident I am about to relate here really happened. It occurred recently in Masroor AFB, Karachi.
I was walking home late at night with a lady friend at the quiet officer's complex at Masroor on the outskirts of the city. I heard a low rumble behind me, so I looked over my right shoulder to see if I could catch a glimpse of where it was coming from. It is always my instinct to look at the plane passing in the sky above. I knew this noise was coming from planes too, and sure enough I spotted a set of 4 blinking lights moving in formation at some distance.
Mirages on an IFR training mission, I thought. I saw a couple of lights break away from the other two and fly off separately. I looked away as the lights faded and walked on.
Barely a minute later, I again heard a rumbling sound in the sky, but this was coming from in front of me. So I started scanning for the approaching plane. A few seconds later, I saw another light and tried to make out the shape of the aircraft silhouetted against the moonlit sky.
The shape seemed unfamiliar and odd. It was definitely not a Mirage. As the aircraft came ever closer, I realized it was flying much lower than fighter jets usually do. It was at a height of aprox 500-1000 ft. For a fleeting second, I thought it was an F-22 Raptor. There were multiple tail fins, and I knew the PAF didn't have a plane with multiple fins.
With shock and horror, I realized it was an F-35 Lightning. The jet passed overhead and I saw a single engine. It was painted all white, but the nose was black. The F-35 banked right, and then suddenly released something from it's wing over a clearing behind some trees. A white parachute suddenly emerged, and whatever was on it descended to ground and I knew it was not a missile or bomb because there was no explosion.
Before I could swallow what had happened, another F-35 passed over head. This one had the regular paint scheme of jets, grey. It too banked right and released a parachute, this one was orange, and then went into a steep climb and disappeared into the night sky like the one before it.
I stood rooted to the spot with my heart hammering. "What the hell just happened?" I asked myself. I am not a drunkard or a druggie, and I am not a conspiracy theorist. I saw what I saw; there was no mistaking that those two were F-35s. So whose were they and what were they doing here?
I had a wild urge to run for it when I first saw the small parachutes released by the jets, but now I thought about checking out where they had landed. But I didn't, because I figured there would be somebody there to recieve whatever had been dropped.
I ran to my friends house and called him out despite the time (midnight). I told him what I saw and expected him to be shocked or at least surprised or even disbelieving of which plane I just saw but he didn't seem to understand how colossal this sighting was. It was like seeing ET dropping off aliens.
Until today, I have not figured out where they came from or whose planes they were. Is there something going on undercover? I didn't want to post this anywhere until I heard some news but nothing so far. Perhaps the PAF was testing it out for an impending sale?
