Meanwhile, commenting on the uptick of the exports of the rice, Chairman Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Samee Ullah Naheem told APP that due to the implementation of international set standards and adoption of phytosanitary measures, the demand of Pakistani rice from Europe and Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia had witnessed tremendous growth.

The demand of basmati rice had also increased from other markets of the world as the local rice was unique in its taste and aroma all across the glob and was on high demanded, he remarked and said that the momentum of exports could further be enhanced by paying little attention.

He informed that the exports of rice would further increase as arrangements were in progress with Iran as it is another market have huge potential for the Pakistani rice, adding that rice worth US$ 2 billion were exported during the year 2017-18.

Besides, Pakistan was also finding other potential markets to enhance its exports and introduce its products there to fetch further foreign exchange reserves for the economic development of the country, he observed.

Personally i prefer pakistani basmati. My challenge is locating it here. this side is flooded with Indian basmati which is so-so.
Pakistani basmati is the best. Indian is not even near it. Previously Indians were buying pakistani rice packing it as Indian and selling it all over the world but now that Dubai based con business has been brought to end.
I don't know what they supply there in south Africa but if you can find Super kernel basmati white aromatic rice it is the best in the world and if you can find a baryani cooked in it with yogurt then you can it a good lunch.

This is super kernel basmati rice. The older it is the better it is.

You export it to uae and you say vendors at uae pack it and sell it as Indian basmathi rice right ?? What will India gain from it ? Have you seen any vendor who buys great quality (as per you) product and rebrand it to lower quality and sell it ?

.
Can anyone name the legit Pakistani Basmati brands?

India got the name basmati registered and started packing Pakistani rice in UAE and exporting it to Europe. Pakistan stopped the export to UAE and disrupted India supply when they failed on delivery the Europe revoked the brand registration and then Pakistani rice started going into Europe under Pakistani name. The Indian vendors stationed in UAE now have established some brands to meet their quality they buy Pakistani rice pack it and send it to Europe.

Pakistan' annual exports of rice are worth $2-billion which averages about $166.66-million per month.

212,518 metric tons of rice worth US$ 110.966 million means the price of rice is only about $522/- per ton. According to the link below internationally good quality rice fetches about $1,000/- per metric ton.

I am not criticising the post, I am just confused with the arithmetic. It could be that rice export is not uniformly spread over the year. Nevertheless, the export price is very low.

Pakistan exports raw rice to Iran Iraq. Plus there are other qualities of rice that are exported like ari-6 to countries where rice is staple food. Ari is a cheap type.

India is currently exporting more than 4 billion $ worth basmathi rice and you are saying that European basmathi market worth 400 million$ was disrupted by Pakistan stopping the supply !!

You have rice to vendors who pack and supply to marts. Their product quality was disrupted. India is 7 times more bigger than Pakistan but our exports stand at your 60% in rice few years back this was not the case.
