Export earnings to cross $80B by 2024, hopes Tipu

This reply proves your complete lack of understanding of basic economics!

How can you extrapolate a commitment to spend few hundred million a year over 25 years - to funding infrastructure now?

You are effectively comparing an outright purchase to a rental!!!

Apples and oranges!!!

I bet you also deride mortgages because of the interest hehehe

Bud, all we are doing is feeding a troll here.

Another way to look at this electricity purchase is that it will provide 25 years of 1.5GW electricity 24/7 for the cost of a SINGLE YEAR of defence in 2030.

Now that looks far more reasonable when written in this way. :p:

You can 'spin' any story the way you want it and that can mislead the not so bright or give ammunition to trolls.

1.5GW of electricity over 25 years is a great deal.

It also mollifies a Modi backer. Which should grease other deals.

Great observation.

This gives BD real influence over the business leaders in India and they can become de-facto "lobbyists" for BD with the Indian government of the day.

Hasina is truly a genius by making deals like this.

This adani guy has built a power station that is now reliant on BD money.

He will now watch our back over the West Bengalis, Asaames and other assorted tribals.

Those "intellectuals" here from both BD and Pakistan who say that these deals are evidence of BD being an Indian "slave" never could see the big picture here.

By giving the biggest Indian business moguls a stake in BD economy like this, then BD has very powerful allies in India with greater shooting power with the Indian government than low-live BJP politicians who mouth off against BD from time to time.

Also the other benefit is that this reduces pollution than building the plant within BD itself - win-win.

They have a very simpleton definition of master slave.

BD can afford to have a bad relationship with Myanmar and still develop but it would be almost impossible if it was the same situation with India.

Are you aware that many years ago that BD proposed to build hydroelectric dams in Arakan(Myanmar) and turn that region into the bread basket for BD?

Savages turned that proposal down that will have netted them many billions of US dollars of vital foreign currencty to develop their economy.

The savages would rather starve than see BD prosper. Cut off nose to spite face describes those Buddhists.

Yep! BD cannot develop without cooperation with India and vice versa.

The synergy in terms of food, raw materials and opportunities for export doesn’t exist with any other country.

Exports to India will be many times that to China.

I will be shocked if we even export 50% of what we export to India eventually.

I find it a somehow bizarre concept that allowing Indian Business Moguls to control Bangladesh will help Bangladesh control Delhi's political machinations in Bangladesh.

That is akin to a tail wagging the dog, which is doubtful logic....kind of like Awami League Logic, if you ask me.

Lately I have seen your posts turn increasingly India-friendly.

You sure you aren't an Indian false-flagger with Bangladeshi flags? :-)

Bangladesh is in a position to control the entire Eastern Indian Seaboard, not the other way around. Just watch.

Amit shah may stop moving his lips, but Bangladesh will be wide open to Indian trade exploitation if we allow the Adanis and Ambanis any more quarter in Bangladesh trade-wise, and they will control our tariff policy, using and whoring our market and labor resources however they feel like.

We will be even a bigger and more prized market for Indian products - these greedy haramkhor Banyas are seeing nothing but dollar signs in Bangladesh nowadays because our living standards have gone up.

These SOBs have already taken over Kolkata and WB, but sorry, Bangladesh is not for sale.

Their haramkhor greed makes them find new agents in Bangladesh and there is no shortage of these betrayer Bangladeshi chamchas who should be lined up and shot.

Soon there will be shivlingas established in Bangladeshi mosques as well. Get ready for that day.

This is NOT WHY FREEDOM FIGHTERS LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES, to be led by a bunch of traitors and chamchas into Indian slavery and sycophancy!

BD has done just fine so far. I don't know what Indian Magnanimous trade "cooperation" you are suggesting that saved Bangladesh.

They give us a dozen Ambulances and their HC makes such a friggin clown-show about it. As if we never had any.

What has India done in Bangladesh other than exploit our market to the tune of $50 to $60 Billion yearly (including illegal Indians working in Bangladesh which is their third largest remittance source)?

Benefit is only on India's side. We can do without them. They can't do without us.

All Sanghis have ever done is help themselves.

If this was not an AL govt. these Indian illegals would be driven out immediately. They should thank their stars Hasina is still in power.

They don’t need a Nobel prize in economics.

All they need to understand is that unless millions of jobs are created there will be social carnage like you see in India.

Modi has to bait the Muslims to deflect from the scarcity of jobs.

Due to automation - heavy and hi tech industries no longer provide sufficient jobs.

You will invest billions buying industrial robots from Germany but create very few jobs.

Only an idiot will do that whilst your median population is 17 years old!!!

Thankfully BongoBandhobi is not an idiot!

Sri Lanka thought tourism was its meal ticket. Look how that turned out!!!
100 TK invested in low tech manufacturing with value added in Bangladesh has better multi-plier impact than high tech jobs. Right now there is no business case for hightech investment.

Every country acts according to its own interest.

We don’t need a magnanimous India.

We just need an India that is driven by economic interest rather than xenophobic hatred.

Imagine the mutual economic benefit with Burma - if that country was driven by economic interest.

No other country in the world provides the potential market for our goods or cheap source of raw materials and food - THAN INDIA.

Hinduvta extremists make it hard to see that fact - BUT IT IS FACT.

There is no "control" for India over BD as long as it is not in anything strategic or there is not too much of anything.
i.e say 3-4GW out of 40GW from India and through India(Nepal and Bhutan) will not allow India to exert too much power over BD.

Also, no-one was saying that BD will be able to control India but influence it. There is a difference.

My posts recognise the crucial deal that has been struck between India and BD in terms of allowing both countries to prosper and that is something I welcome.

There is no path to prosperity and strategic independence for BD without good relations with India. BD in effect is using India to counterbalance the USA and China and them with India itself.

You are right! Indians are employed as mid level managers everywhere. Look at the gulf countries as well. Look at Canada also. In Muslims Malaysia - almost all doctors are Indian.

But that’s because the Indians embraced western education and English language whilst we built thousands of Madrasas under Zia and Ershad. And treated western education as haram.

Hasina isn’t going to change that in 10 years.

That needs to come from ordinary Muslims - everywhere.

Think of making something in this life instead of dreaming of paradise and after life with a thousand virgins!!!!
