Media does not take sides
The media’s job is to report and expose the truth about anyone who is detouring from the path without fear. And it does not take anyone’s side.
Pakistan’s situation is very delicate and the media has to work under a lot of constraint but it is doing this difficult job with a lot of effort.
People don’t understand that the Pakistan media faces a lot of issues. But still reporters manage to get the news, even putting their lives at risk. And therefore it is not fair that many channels are accused of working for the government or working against a specific political party.
For example the Rangers’ raid on MQM’s headquarters 90 in Karachi. The media is highlighting both sides of the situation, giving the Rangers’ raid coverage and relevant information, as well as giving MQM’s side of the story by covering the party’s activities and leaders a lot of airtime.
Unfortunately, mischief-makers are making a lot of noise against channels for taking sides. One set of critics say that so and so channel is supporting the MQM and is against the Rangers and vice versa. When this is far from the truth, channels are trying to give both sides as much coverage as they possibly can.
It is time the viewer understood this and moved on from this petty bickering and grumbling and focused on the content being provided to them.
