A court in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh has rejected the plea changing the court-appointed advocate commissioner for conducting a video survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex.
The court also directed for completion of the survey by May 17 and submission of its report, Abhay Nath Yadav, who is representing the Gyanvapi mosque management committee, said.

The petitioners had sought the removal of Mishra on the grounds that he was doing the video survey of areas in the Gyanvapi mosque that are not specified in the order.
The court further said that anyone who tries to stall the survey should be dealt with sternly.

The women had moved the court with their plea on April 18, 2021, and also sought a court's order to stop the opponents from causing any damage to the idols.
The counsel for the mosque management committee had earlier contended that the court had not given any order to do the videography inside the mosque but to do it only till the courtyard outside the barricades enclosing the mosque area.

IICF Secretary Athar Hussain said: "We will not spare any effort in getting the Ayodhya verdict implemented in letter and spirit. We will approach the apex court to get the Places of Worship Act, 1991 implemented.
"Any court of law challenging the status of any place of worship in India other than the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya violates the November 9, 2019 verdict of the SC."
The IICF is a Supreme Court mandated trust that owns the 5-acre land in Ayodhya allotted by the apex court for the construction of a mosque, in lieu of the Babri Masjid land.

The videography and survey of the mosque was ordered by Judge Diwakar on a plea by Delhi women Rakhi Singh, Laxmi Devi, Sita Sahu and others seeking permission to perform daily worship of deities Shringar Gauri, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman and Nandi whose idols are located on the outer wall of the Gyanvapi mosque.

Violation of Places of Worship Act, 1991: IICF
Meanwhile the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) it will approach the Supreme Court against the videography being carried out at the Gyanvapi Mosque in violation of the Places of Worship Act, 1991, which laid down that a religious place will retain the same character it had on August 15, 1947.
