An online video purports to show former militants of the Pakistani Taliban pledge allegiance to the Islamic State group and behead a man they identify as a soldier.

The video, released Saturday, shows a former Pakistani Taliban spokesman along with dozens of other militants in a wooded area. The former spokesman already announced his support for the Islamic State group in an audio message in October. He was later replaced by the Pakistani Taliban.

Other militant leaders in both Afghanistan and Pakistan also pledge their support to the Islamic State group. At the end of the video, the militants behead a man identified as a Pakistani soldier.

The SITE Intelligence Group, a terrorism monitoring organization, said the video was released by the Islamic State group on Twitter and jihadi forums.

One question: Whole of Internet is controlled by different governments (mainly by the US), why the f* don't they close down these Jihadi sites or Twitter accounts of these Jihadis?

These are the sources for spreading hate and war in the world, and break laws in almost every country, so why allow them spreading this venom ?

It is really beyond me!

they are usually brought down.. but no.. internet is not easy to control.. could they stop pirate*ay?

These are two different things. AFAIK, Pirate Bay is not spreading any murderous violence, whereas these sites are openly inviting people to join terrorism.

Why should they be allowed to continue? Controlling the Internet is not that difficult as you make it sound. Once a site is known, it can be taken down within few seconds if the authorities want it to. And these site are known...

Time for NSA to start crackdown on online hate spreading websites.

I gave example of pirateb*y not because what they do, but because its extremely difficult to close down. You close one, and two more pops up. There is no technology that can scan the internet and find all jihadi sites.
also, in some countries, govts are extremely serious about internet freedom. You can host in those countries and become more immune to it.
Govts around the world do force service providers to block/close such sites.. take videos down etc, else you will see them everywhere. I have never seen a jihadi site myself.

Again, you have to differenciate between technological black market and terrorism related sites.

Whereas some countries might be lenient towards sharing sites such as PB, there is universal consenus about blocking and prosecuting people involved in e.g. Child Pornography. Heavy fines or even prison terms are rewarded to Service providers as well who allow such content.

So why not doing the same thing about terrorism spreading Web sites?

I just want to know the logic behind it.

they are doing it.. I read it on news all the time how beheading videos are removed.. or jihadi sites are shutdown..
the problem is of technology..
btw can you shutdown youtube just because somebody posted jihadi video?
The content generated by people is so huge, its impossible to keep track of it, and you will need complain from people to look into it.
Otherwise govt need to employ millions of people just to keep track of whats going on in internet.
btw.. child pornography sites also are difficult to close for same reason... it has to be prominent enough to be in the radar.

I understand your POV about the quantitiy. But sites like Youtube can be controlled, they have automatic tools speficically designed for this purpose, which work with a very high precision.

Have you ever heard about Child Pornoghraphy related material on Youtube? Ever? They do have tools to scan videos before they are uploaded. The uploader of the video can not remain annonym, there are ways to find out, no matter how many proxies you use.

I guess Internet restrictions operate like the police...one needs to complain to take down a site, plus there are guidelines in place in which one can ban a site...if the terrorists walk a fine line in keeping under that guideline for E. G. Twitter accounts of let, aq, isis etc then it becomes difficult to take down.

I have no idea how they do it.. may be amount of pixel that match skintone... pretty sure its impossible to find jihadi video via technology.. for example I can make a video in which I will glorify xyz.. its very difficult technological challenge to find such video..
btw govt asks ISPs to block them.. but the number of such sites will be so much it will be silly.. have you seen the list of sites Govt of India requested to ISPs to block?
also not all of them comply.. some might ask for time.. this is real world practical issue.. not what you think.

I want to give example of pirateb*y again, because lot of influencial company with big pockets and politicians want it to be blocked(for a politician its a much bigger issue than jihadi site).. if they cant do it.. how can you block jihadi sites.

Horrible filth. They have been known to behead civilians and state they are soldiers. Is there anymore information?

Allah bless the victim.

US & her allies must be really happy on how well their plan has worked in the form of IS, almost all the rented terrorists groups have been gathered under the umbrella of IS. This will become a huge problem for Pakistan & none of the politicians & courts are serious about it, their well wishers like Asma Jhangir & others are doing whatever they can to protect terrorists in Pakistan.
