Eurofighters escort Indian President in rare honour

VIENNA: In a rare honour, two Eurofighter Typhoon combat jets escorted the Air India One aircraft carrying President Pratibha Patil as it entered the Austrian airspace.

Within seconds of entering the Austrian airspace from Switzerland on Tuesday, two gleaming jets appeared suddenly on the left side of the President's plane.

Those inside the presidential aircraft started shooting the jets in frenzy. But, only with their mobile phones and cameras.

The Eurofighters are one of the shortlisted contenders in the Indian MRCA tender to purchase 126 "Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft".

After about two minutes, one of the jets suddenly pulled back and flew to the other side of the aircraft. Everyone was just interested in getting the perfect shot of the plane which also opened its co-passenger shield as a mark of respect. The best view was just before landing as all three aircraft lost altitude and the jets were at an arm's length.

Something like below, difference would be that it would be a two person craft and they might have opened the second one. Though I am not sure. Any expert opinion.

the thing which you are pointing to is the CANOPY and there is nothing called as a CO- PASSENGER SHIELD -- and the twin seeter dosent have two distinct canopies but its a single piece CANOPY NOT A SHIELD. the stupid journos dont know what they are seeing

how dumb can reporter be? sigh! can't we hire retired airforce officials or military men (not all have wish to sit at home, some want to work even now) to do the reporting job for news channels or print media so that the exact specifications are mentiond instead of hallucinations of these dumb bookwormish reporters.

Whats wrong with it. Have those pilots put some banner on those fighters like " Buy our Fighter Jets". . Its just an honor they showed it to India. Just take it in a lighter sense.
And enjoy the warmth India get for gradually becoming a Super Power.

This is marketing funda i think next time when Pakistan president visit America the plane should escorted by Drones so that Pakistan can buy in future for counter terrorism.

its one hell of a gesture to buy they're fighter jets but i don't think President decides on military tenders for weaponry
