Ethiopia calls Nile dam filling diplomatic victory

Either in USA #BLM or this Dam there are atrocities done by barbaric invaders on Africans from 1000's of years. They are fighting back and they save their natural resources which 100% BELONGS TO THEM.
Please name the "barbaric invaders".

. .
See their skin tone (Race) u will understand.
Do you mean Italians? They occupied Ethiopia for a time I believe.

Mussolini...or something.. he was the guy right? I'm not sure the Italian occupation of Ethiopia had any significant impact though. "Barbaric" sure, as were all Euro-fascist subjugations of Africans for imperial gains.

am talking about from last 1000 years... Anyway, now come to the point

Ethiopians will fill the river in 5 to 7 years and then they will utilize the water for all their Agriculture and industrial purpose, develop their country and get rid-of poverty/terrorism etc.

Hope remaining African countries also wake-up and BUILT dams and store water after that like Ethiopia.

Even India need more dams to store/divert water flow.

Aww did you back down so soon?

Anyway, no need for me to derail the thread further.

with all respect to you, but you are stupid
Egypt still has the Nasr Lake, which would give Egypt plenty of breathing room for negotiations.
I contribute to the news and I am stupid..Which breathing room with 100,000,000 plus soul, high temperature year around..How long do you think those reserves will last?
Egypt will feel the loss of water in the next couple years, probably never, but it is something to think about...

He doesn't even know what that word "intransigence" means clearly the way he used it in that sentence and the only reason he's using it is because Shoukry used it to describe Ethiopia's methods of negotiations since the start of all of this 11 years ago LOL. He saw the title of the article with Shoukry's quote and now he's using it on Egyptians lol.
I forgot Egypt is member of the Francophonie because Napoleon had a notion to take a dump in Egypt, wonder if he took a sh.t in Qatar too, because they are in the Francophonie...learned INTRANSIGEANCE from Shoukri:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Settle down fava bean!

One of the very few, sane, well-informed and non-judgmental posts I've read here in a while.
The Israelis would use something like this as an existential threat which in many ways, it really is and wouldn't be apologetic about its actions one bit. In turn, it would get all the worldly support it would need because it's Israel.

I doubt Egypt would be afforded any of that luxury if it decides on a military solution because it will have to punch a lot more than just the dam in order to make a successful attack. That will get Egypt into a lot more trouble and so it's being very careful to be sure it exhausts every single diplomatic avenue first, despite being played by the Ethiopians but the Egyptian politicians know this is happening and for every time they're being played, there's a check mark made so that when the time comes, it will be a no-brainer to point out how hard we tried and how many times they played with this like it was a joke.

The best time to hit it anyway IMO will be when it's practically full and has all that hydrostatic pressure against it, where a series of hits and cracks will just snowball from the pressure. But who would ever want to do something like that to such a poor country that has the majority of its population using generators to provide electricity to their little dwellings?! It's a terrible thing to consider, but when they deal with such arrogance and lack of common respect and no concern for any consequences, it's hard not to end up speaking that language.
Here is the main case for Egypt demands..

In most cases, dam failure could have been prevented if the structures had been properly maintained. Maintenance is an ongoing process that not only involves such routine items as mowing the grass and clearing the trashrack, but also includes regularly inspecting the structure and properly operating its components.

Major rehabilitation of a dam should not be necessary if the dam was designed in accordance with good engineering practice, was built using good construction standards, and is operated and maintained properly. Design engineers should inspect their dams periodically after construction to ensure that the design is working and the structure is properly operated and maintained.

Owners of dams should be aware that they are legally responsible for the operation, maintenance, and inspection of their structures. Negligence by owners in fulfilling their responsibilities can lead to the creation of extremely hazardous conditions to downstream residents and properties.

A dam failure may sometimes result in loss of life, considerable loss of capital investment, loss of income, and property damage. A loss of a reservoir can cause hardship for those dependent on it for their livelihood or water supply and will upset the ecological balance of the area. In the event of a failure, the owner can be subject to a barrage of liability claims and possibly even criminal charges.

The GERD is a hydroelectric DAM..isn't it?

We can see here 2 vulnerabilities to Attack.. both the generators' structures and the power lines..
No need to hit the Dam structure at all.. since the main purpose of this Dam is electricity generation..there will be none for the Ethiopians..hence nullifying its existence as a Hydroelectric Dam..

Does anyone really believe that Egypt will attack the dam? It would have massive consequences.

lol, on paper, the nasr lake reserve's could last us for 4 months. if you include the underground water sources we have, we could last for about a year, without the nile, and if shit hits rock bottom we can strike the dam.
but keep in mind, Ethopia's plan, is to make the dam strong enough to withstand strikes.
so thats why they keep stalling the negotiations, to build the dam up, at the sametime. the longer they wait. the stronger Egypt get. because of the amount of arms deal egypt has done.

By who, if Ethiopia took the case to the UN, all Egypt has to say "We kept negotiating with them for 10 years."
and that is even backed up, by how many times they said they "agree" yet refusing to sign any papers.

.
Building a dam is neither a crime nor is it a reason for war. I'm sure in the future it will be, but you will have to bear the consequences of that action. And the flood that is going to kill thousands of people.

If, and I say If Egypt has the capability, the know how, the range, the will and is successful, the consequences on Egyptian's life and destruction from flooding will be beyond imagination..Thankfully for the Egyptians, their army lacks that capability and the will...and for the maghreb being safe from an invasion bis des Beni Hillal ...which might happens..if the dam dries the Nile..
